That might be all today from a wonderful few hours of practice and puppy banter.

But I'll be back at 09:30 BST ahead of third practice and then qualifying.

Make no bones about it, I'll be taking the lead on describing the action and won't paws at any point.

    See you tomorrow.

Oh - and I award best dog pun of the day to Nigell Mans-best-friend-ell, with Spaniel Ricciardo and Murray Walkies closely behind.

Don't forget to listen to the wonderful BBC Radio 5 live programme about Michael Schumacher's break in F1 25 years ago.

    It's actually a remarkable story.

Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel on Sky Sports after a P4 in second practice, speaking about being blocked a few times: "There is traffic sometimes. Sometimes people including myself could do better. It's not easy to always be in the right place.

"It's quite warm for Spa and I think everyone was struggling to make the tyres last."

Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen on Sky Sports after a P7 in second practice: "I was struggling with the super-soft, and then on the long runs it was a struggle for whatever reason.

"I haven't had time to check what the others have been doing - in the end the feeling wasn't correct but we should be more or less up there."

So, what stands out on that second practice leaderboard?

The Red Bull one-two and the performance of Force India will give those desperate for a crashing of the Mercedes party some hope.

Jenson Button in P9 is worth an eyebrow raise, half a second quicker than McLaren team-mate Fernando Alonso.

The Williams pairing of Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Bottas down in P16 and P17 respectively is not great.

There are plenty of Dutch flags waving in east Belgium as Max Verstappen finishes top of second practice with a 1:48.085.

And the Dutchman is milking it for all it's worth, waving to the grandstands.

Red Bull team-mate Daniel Ricciardo is second, 0.256secs further back.

Then it's Hulkenberg, Vettel, Perez, Rosberg, Raikkonen, Grosjean, Button, Gutierrez.

    Lewis Hamilton finishes P13.

A few cars are out still but we're not going to have a Mercedes in the top five.

Most drivers have dispensed with the super-soft tyres and there's a lot of softs out there. So don't expect any imminent changes to the top of the leaderboard, where Max Verstappen still leads Red Bull team-mate Daniel Ricciardo by 0.256secs.
