It was precisely what Lewis Hamilton wanted to avoid. There was a puff of smoke just before the lights went out and his launch went wrong.
It was a fantastic start from both Ferrari drivers and there was a great roar from the crowd.
Hamilton has actually dropped behind Ricciardo to sixth and manages to recover to grab back fifth.
Unbelievable start for the world champion.
Rosberg is away fine. And Hamilton's start looked decent, but he was quickly swallowed up by Vettel, Raikkonen and Bottas.
Hamilton has dropped to sixth off the grid!
And, with a red flare going off on the road in the background, the 2016 Italian Grand Prix is go go go!

This is a vital race for both Lewis and Nico. Lewis Hamilton has won this race on three occasions from pole and he knows how important that will be with 13 of the last 17 races here won from pole.
And they line up on the grid. What will happen this first corner? Carnage or carefree? We're about to find out.
A reminder that Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg start on soft tyres.
Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen behind them are on super-softs and should get better grip off the start.
The Mercedes tyres will last longer though,

We're off on the parade lap, so let's look at the grid...
Nico Rosberg has reportedly said he had a hesitant practice grid start earlier. He can't afford that today.
We asked who Williams should be picking to replace Felipe Massa for next season?
This is the result...

Ah. Lovely shot, Fergus.
Be careful out there today Kimi Raikkonen. Seriously, watch your back.
And only three of the current grid have ever won in Monza.
Lewis Hamilton in 2012, 2014 and 2015.
Sebastian Vettel in 2008, 2011 and 2013.
Fernando Alonso in 2007 and 2010.
