Strong hat work on show here.
Spooky F1 drivers
If Nico Hulkenberg is, as the data screens show, on softs, then he has done a mightily impressive lap on that compound. He's currently P6, seven tenths of a second down on the time Sebastian Vettel did on the super-softs.
Everyone apart from the Force Indias are on super-softs now. Jenson Button's qualifying sim puts him P12, 1.4s down on Sebastian Vettel's time.

Ferrari appear to be in a good place. They brought some developments to their car so they are clearly making progress. It is only Friday and it would be a very short term view if they are going all out today, but they are really determined to win a race this year.
Lewis Hamilton is second quickest on the super-softs, 0.013s down on Sebastian Vettel. Nico Rosberg does improve on his previous effort but not enough to trouble Sebastian Vettel as he slots into P3 after a 1:20.225.
Ferrari looking strong here? Or are Mercedes keeping their cards very close to their chest?
Only P4 for Nico Rosberg on his first lap on the super-softs. Looks like he was getting the tyres up to temperature because he is on a quicker lap now.
Kimi Raikkonen ends up half a second down on Sebastian Vettel's time. Meanwhile Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton, like pretty much the rest of the field, are also out on super-softs.
Could Ross Brawn, the former Mercedes team principal, soon be back in F1?
He'll be on BBC Radio 5 live next Thursday and you can put your questions to him. Send them to #bbcf1 , external

Not an F1 driver, but we'll allow this one.
Lots of drivers back in the pits as they prepare for their qualifying simulation runs. Kimi Raikkonen is out with super-softs boots on so time to see if he can beat his team-mate's benchmark time.

I am here at the Haas garage and there is frantic work going on. There are a few gloomy faces around but nowhere to be seen is Romain Grosjean

It was a neat and tidy lap from Sebastian. I think we can expect Mercedes to go quicker but they have quite often kept their powder dry in FP2. We don't see them turn up the wick in their engines until qualifying and that can be worth as much as half a second.
