That lap from Hamilton was the fastest ever on this track. It was 0.3 secs faster than Michael Schumacher, though the track has been resurfaced and some corners have been modified.
Felipe Massa starts dropping down the order as Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel go fifth and sixth respectively. Once again, there's little between the two Ferraris as they do 1:33.9.
Felipe Massa goes fifth quickest, 1.3 slower than Lewis Hamilton's time as he does a 1:34.4 but that should see him through.

Lewis Hamilton absolutely annihilated Nico Rosbeg with that lap.
Max Verstappen goes third quickest with 1:33.775 while Daniel Ricciardo is four quickest, a tenths of a second down on his Red Bull team-mate.
First across the line is Nico Rosberg with 1:33.609. Can Lewis Hamilton? Yes he can, and in style too.
He hammers it round in 1:33.046 to go six tenths quicker than Rosberg and that lap even included a little sideways moment coming out of Turn 4.
On. It.
Mercedes are out to get themselves safely through to Q1 nice and early. Everyone, so far, is heading out on the soft tyres.

A lot of people said to me last night that Mercedes, Red Bull and Ferrari are evenly matched on long runs. Red Bull feel if they qualify well they will at least give Mercedes something to think about tomorrow.
The second part of qualifying is under way.

“Good effort from Marcus Ericsson to qualifying for Q2, particularly with the injuries he is carrying after a collision with a chicken.
The collision happened when on his mountain bike during a training camp between Singapore and. The chicken came off better than Marcus.

Lewis Hamilton finishes fastest in the first part of qualifying for the Malaysian Grand Prix.

The top four cars are covered by 0.113secs, so good lap times by both Ferraris.
It's good stuff from the Ferraris. Kimi Raikkonen goes third quickest with 1:34.556 while Sebastian Vettel is just one-thousandths of a second behind him. That's them safely through to Q2.
