"My right mirror came off and hit me in the face. Help me with traffic," says Romain Grosjean.

He's not wrong as a replay shows his mirror suddenly coming loose before flying off, clipping his helmet and tumbling off down the track.

There's a brief flutter of the yellow flags as Jenson Button spins at the final corner.

There will be a huge sigh of relief in Rosberg's side of garage. He was 0.6 secs slower this morning. He has gone away, thought about it and he has certainly done that.

Nico Rosberg goes second quickest but is just 0.016s slower than his Mercedes team-mate. That's much more encouraging for the German after he was six tenths adrift in final practice.

Pascal Wehrlein is the first to set a time with 1:48.241 but Lewis Hamilton takes his place at the top with a more representative 1:34.444.

And here comes Fernando Alonso for his jaunt on the circuit before he heads back in to watch the rest of it on the TV.

He'll start at the back of the grid regardless of qualifying because of grid penalties.

It is definitely getting darker here. The official weather people here say there is a 20% chance of rain in this session. You do get a shower here, so it could prove to be a factor today.

Can anyone stop Mercedes running away with it (again) this weekend?

Max Verstappen suggested he could by finishing second in final practice but that appeared to be more down to mistakes by Nico Rosberg.

Surely the current championship leader will get it right in qualifying? We'll know for certain in little over one hour.
