Lewis Hamilton finishes fastest in the second part of qualifying for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
No improvement for Max Verstappen, so he'll start on the super-softs. It appears Red Bull sent their drivers back out on the quicker compound, just in case they needed to sneak in a faster lap to get through. As it is, both are safely into the top 10 shootout anyway.
The flag comes down on the second part of qualifying. Everyone still out will get to complete their laps.
Fernando Alonso jumps up to 10th, enough to be safe? Jenson Button, unfortunately, can't improve and he's out.

Very interesting to see that both Verstappen and Ricciardo have both gone out on the ultra-softs.

Nick Holland: Sigh.. Grosjean... despair... nothing a cattle prod & slap with a damp haddock wouldn't fix. Give some feedback man!
Chris Marsh: If I choose my podium for tomorrow it would be Lewis, Jenson and Massa. Two proper send offs and a 4th championship
Nick Hughes: Despite 2015 engine performance catching up, Carlos Sainz is driver of the year. Phenomenal driving, future champ
After a brief lull, cars are heading back out onto the track for one last shot at an improvement that could see them into Q3.
Interestingly, both Red Bulls are heading back out and are on the ultra-softs.

If Rosberg were to pull it out now, that would be quite something.

In 2014 and 2015 Lewis Hamilton was quickest in the first and second parts of qualifying. In the end? Nico Rosberg was on pole...

Red Bull have done a lot of race prep but can they get it right? They put the intermediate tyre on two weeks ago in Brazil at the wrong time but can they do it right this time?
Everyone's done their first runs in Q2 and in a spot of bother are:
11) Alonso 12) Gutierrez 13) Grosjean 14) Palmer 15) Wehrlein 16) Button
Max Verstappen goes fourth quickest with 1:39.903, but Daniel Ricciardo is half a second slower than his Red Bull team-mate. It might not be enough to get him through to Q3.
Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel go third and fourth quickest. Everyone is on the super-softs apart from the two Red Bulls, they've gone for the super-softs, so a different strategy in play. That's the tyre they'll start the race on.

It was actually a case of Rosberg maybe losing a little bit rather than Hamilton rescuing it as he came into the third sector.
Nico Rosberg is slower than Lewis Hamilton. He crosses the line in 1:39.490, finishing a tenth down on Hamilton's time.

Rosberg quicker than Hamilton but we'll wait and see how it transpires over the rest of this run.
A 1:39.382 for Lewis Hamilton. Nailed it in the final sector.
Here comes Nico Rosberg...
...Rosberg quicker through the second sector...
Nico Rosberg quicker than Lewis Hamilton in the first sector...
