Hello and welcome along to our coverage of qualifying for the Russian Grand Prix.

It has been Ferraris weekend so far after topping the timesheets in all three practice sessions, suggesting they could really put up a strong fight for pole position.

Sebastian Vettel was fastest in final practice, half a second clear of Lewis Hamilton, who was fourth.

We've been here before, however. Vettel topped final practice in China and was also half a second clear of Hamilton. The person who went on to get pole position? Hamilton. He out-qualifed Vettel by two tenths of a second.

Last year, you could probably stick a Mercedes engine in something like this...

... and one of Lewis Hamilton or Nico Rosberg would put it on pole.

This year, things are different. Ferrari have not only closed the gap but now look capable of outpacing the Mercedes.

That has certainly looked the case so far this weekend as Ferrari completed a clean sweep in practice but can they produce the goods in qualifying? Or will Mercedes show their true hand once again?

Right, I'm going to take a 50 minute breather but we will be back with build up to qualifying from 12:00 BST.

Are Ferrari the real deal? Will Mercedes close the gap? Will Romain Grosjean get through qualifying without a single complaint?

Join us at 12:00 to find out.

Sloths are pretty lovable though, aren't they?

It is a fascinating jigsaw we are trying to put together. The gap between Bottas and Hamilton is the most fascinating for me.

So Ferrari complete a clean sweep of practice but only a fool would write off Mercedes. The gap between them is three tenths of a second but Lewis Hamilton has not looked comfortable so far in Sochi. He finished fourth quickest, two tenths down on his team-mate Valtteri Bottas and half a second off Sebastian Vettel. Can he make that up in qualifying?

It is a bit strong [to say Ferrari are favourites] but it is game on.

Jolyon Palmer's session is over. He's managed just four laps this morning and Renault have confirmed his car will need an engine change before qualifying.

Max Verstappen came to a stop in practice yesterday because of a fuel pressure issue and Daniel Ricciardo's Red Bull momentarily cuts out, but the power quickly comes back on.

Ricciardo has slipped down to P7 with Felipe Massa into sixth following a 1:35.471 on ultrasofts.

    It's that time again!

Yep, it's Romain Grosjean complaining bingo.

Is it brakes? Is it the balance? No, today it is everything. Everything is wrong.

    No he can't.

Lewis Hamilton improves but only a smidgen. He remains fourth, half a second down on Sebastian Vettel.

Lewis Hamilton is fastest of all through the first sector. Can he keep it up through the next two, where he has been consistently down on Sebastian Vettel?
