Max Verstappen has a biiiig moment at Turn 10, bouncing over the gravel but he manages to catch it and avoid any major drama.

"Suddenly lost it mid-corner," says Verstappen.

He's told it was caused by a wind gust.

Rob Parker: Alonso could easily do a greater distance on foot than in the car in  second practice.

MHBimmer: Let's be optimistic: 19 laps.

The Finns are on top as Valtteri Bottas takes P1 from his fellow countryman Kimi Raikkonnen after a 1:23.062.

Meanwhile, Fernando Alonso is in the McLaren garage. The sunglasses are off, the helmet is going on. Looks like he will be out soon.

Lewis Hamilton's got a wobbly rear. The back end of his Mercedes goes sliding out at the penultimate corner but its no biggie for a man of Hamilton's experience as he keeps his car out of bother.

He's currently fifth quickest, 1.4 seconds down on pacesetter Kimi Raikkonen.

Al: I suspect that Fernando could spend the afternoon improving his left turn skills in the McLaren pit buggy
