It's not a thriller here in Monaco..... I am just telling it how it is.

"How close do I have to get?" (to lap the cars at the back of the pack) asks race leader Raikkonnen.

"Still flashing blue - not solid blue yet."

    Hold on Kimi...

Kimi Raikkonen is approaching 20th-place Jenson Button. No blue flags yet, much to the Finn's frustration. He's wary of the other red car starting to fill up his rear mirrors.

It's going to be a long afternoon for Lewis Hamilton. There are very few cards he can play toady but he has got to take something from this weekend.

The championship finishes in Abu Dhabi in November, not today in Monaco...

I won't lie, this isn't a great race at the moment. Hopefully things will hot up in the closing stages.

Lewis Hamilton is 1.1s seconds behind Daniil Kvyat and the Briton does not seem happy with his car still, complaining of poor grip and balance.

Lewis Hamilton's benefits from Nico Hulkenberg's retirement as it moves him up to 10th and into the points.

It gets worse for Hulkenberg. He has to make the walk back to the paddock wearing that Star Wars-themed Stormtrooper race suit Renault have put him in to celebrate 40 years of Renault and 40 years of Star Wars.

"Aren't you a little small to be a stormtrooper," my Star Wars-made colleague has just giggled.

The Hulks pretty tall to be fair...

This place has certainly got character and 150,000 people who visit this principality every year over this weekend can't be wrong.

Granted, I saw two people having a little snooze on the back of a lovely boat about five minutes before the race started earlier so I think it is the party scene people come here for as well as the racing...

Stop-start fluttering of the yellow flags. Looks like marshals are still trying to shift Nico Hulkenberg's stricken Renault.

If you think Motorsport is all about overtaking then no, Monaco is not the most exciting but drivers have to be able to adapt to all different types of circuit.
