  1. 'I haven't missed F1'published at 12:25 British Summer Time 28 May 2017

    Jenson Button
Stand in driver for McLaren speaking to 5 live

I haven't missed F1 because I have had such a great six months but then I got in the car yesterday and absolutely loved it.

It's even difficult for Lewis here - if you find the limit, you are in the wall but I didn't think in Monaco I would be the fastest Brit on the grid!

I don't know who will win the title - I just think it's great we are talking about two drivers and two teams. Mercedes are a lightening quick team and they will continue to win races. The won't give up.

  7. 'It's going to be fascinating'published at 12:14 British Summer Time 28 May 2017

    Jack Nicholls
Radio 5 live Formula 1 commentator

Yesterday was very dramatic. Lewis Hamilton struggled all day - he was deflated and frustrated. But even if Vandoorne hadn't crashed into the wall, ruining Hamilton's qualifying, he was never going to get into poll position. It is really difficult to overtake, if not impossible here.

It's going to be a fascinating grand prix - there are going to be so many places to look.

  12. If Panis can do it...published at 12:07 British Summer Time 28 May 2017

If you start on pole in Monaco then, more often than not, you will win the race. The driver on pole has won 10 of the last 16 races in the principality.

It would take something special for Lewis Hamilton to win from 13th on the grid but there is hope from the history books.

In 1996, Frenchman Olivier Panis won from 14th on the starting grid - the lowest winning start position to date.

  13. What went wrong for Hamilton?published at 12:03 British Summer Time 28 May 2017

    Andrew Benson
    Chief F1 writer in Monaco

Why did Lewis Hamilton struggle so much in qualifying at Monaco? Partly, it was because the team are finding it difficult to keep their tyres in the right temperature window - a problem that has been afflicting them at every race this season to one degree or another. But partly it was to do with circumstance. In the crucial Q2 session, Hamilton had two lurid moments when he nearly put the car in the barriers, one at Massenet, one at Casino. But he was also on two laps that would have been good enough to get him into the top 10 shoot-out - and each time he was thwarted by McLaren’s Stoffel Vandoorne, first in the form of traffic and then at the end in a crash. By pushing too hard, he broke the cardinal rule at Monaco that you have to get a ‘banker lap’ in early in a session. Without that, he would have been in Q3, and then who knows what would have happened? He might have been top five or six and things would not look anywhere near as bad as they do.

  16. 'I am still sweating out the alcohol'published at 11:58 British Summer Time 28 May 2017

Daniel Ricciardo, who wasn't particularly happy yesterday with his team's qualifying tactics, has been speaking on the drivers' parade today...

"I didn't sleep actually. I was out all night partying - I am still sweating out the alcohol....

"Not really. I slept well and got my eight hours. I feel better today and the sun is shining so hopefully we can find something positive and make something happen today.

"Even though the majority of us live here, the track is transformed and we barely recognise anything but there are a lot of cool perks at this circuit..."

Jenson Button doesn't fancy his chances of making his way through the field from his pitlane start.

"If anyone overtakes here I'll give you a tenner," he tells Natalie Pinkham on the drivers' parade.
