Start of the second practice delayed. Once again, the medical helicopter is unable to operate.
It is still misty in Shanghai but just how misty it is at the local hospital is the important factor. If it is bad there and the medical helicopter cannot get there safely, then we could have more waiting about again until it lifts.
Right, second practice (hopefully!) gets under way at 07:00 BST and there will be live BBC Radio 5 live sports extra commentary from five minutes before.
Malaysian Grand Prix off the calendar and two European ones added to it. What's you feelings about that? Let us know via #bbcf1, external
Mad Pauly: No more Malaysian GP after this year. Shame it wasn't somewhere like Bahrain, Baku or China that was dropped.
Some early morning news - this year's Malaysian Grand Prix will be the last after 19 years on the calendar.
“It’s always sad to say goodbye to a member of the Formula 1 family,” said Sean Bratches, managing director of Formula 1 commercial operations. “Over nearly two decades, the Malaysian Formula 1 fans have proven themselves to be some of the sport’s most passionate supporters.
“We will have 21 exciting events to look forward to in the 2018 calendar, with the additions of the French and German races."
Or maybe this is more accurate?

In the 17 minutes of track time that was managed we did get to see McLaren's new T wing.
Looks like a paperclip to me...

Practice started on time on a damp track under smoggy, grey, misty skies but was red-flagged after just five minutes.
There was a 45-minute delay before the cars were sent out again, only for the session to be stopped again after less than 15 minutes. In that time, both Haas drivers Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen spun at Turn 10 and were able to continue, before Renault's Nico Hulkenberg spun into the gravel at Turn Two.
A virtual safety car period was started to recover the Renault but the session was stopped before that could even be completed.
Verstappen set a best time of one minute 50.491 seconds, 1.5secs quicker than Felipe Massa's Williams in second place. The Brazilian was 0.5secs quicker than team-mate Lance Stroll in third.
Only 14 drivers set a time and championship leaders Sebastian Vettel of Ferrari and Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes were not among them.
Yes, fog/smog/whatever you want to call it meant pretty much 90% of the session was suspended because the medical helicopter could not fly due to poor visibility. If the chopper can't take off, the cars can't go out for safety reasons.
That resulted in lots of this...
And not a lot of this...
Hello!
Just waking up in the UK? Want to know what you missed in first practice? Well go get a cup of a coffee and sit down because there's absolutely loads to fill you in on, where do I even begin?
Nah, just kidding. Pretty much nothing happened because of this...
What did we learn from that? Not a lot is the long and short of it.
Hopefully the fog lifts for second practice, which starts at 07:00 BST. Join us again for build up from 06:30.
See you then!

Frustrating for the teams because it compresses their programme for second practice.
That's it then.
Max Verstappen finishes the session fastest, for what it is worth.
SESSION WILL NOT BE RESTARTED
Lewis Hamilton has abandoned sitting in his car and has opted to stretch his legs, Felipe Massa zips up his coat over his race overalls. With five minutes to go, the drivers appear to be resigning themselves to the session not restarting.
