Sergio Perez is to stay at Force India for a fifth consecutive season in 2018.

The 27-year-old, who had been in the frame for a Renault drive before the French team committed to Carlos Sainz, said staying was an "easy decision".

Hello and welcome along to live text and radio coverage of the Singapore Grand Prix, race 14 of 20 in a keenly contested 2017 campaign.

Championship leader Lewis Hamilton has a real challenge from fifth on the grid, even more so with title rival Sebastian Vettel on pole after a simply spellbinding performance in qualifying yesterday.

Throw into the mix some rapid Red Bulls, a little uncertainty over the weather and the small matter of racing under floodlights at night, and you have all the ingredients for a classic race.

    Here's hoping.

    Ninety minutes until lights out.
