    Hamilton is now up to fifth after zooming past Kevin Magnussen. He started 10th, six laps gone and the world champion is fifth.

    At the front, Sebastian Vettel is 2.3 seconds ahead of Valtteri Bottas, with Kimi Raikkonen third after a sluggish start.

    This is brilliant for him, the race has unfolded perfectly for him after a tough start. Hamilton had more straight line speed in a treble tow and breezed past them all.

    Max Verstappen has to pull over by the side of the road. Race done. Red Bull done, already.

  7. What a move from Lewis Hamilton. He was ninth, he dives inside three cars at the same corner. Incredible.

    Hulkenberg, Alonso and Ocon left floundering. A stunning, stunning move.

    Magnussen goes wide after trying to get past Pierre Gasly in fourth. What a start in Bahrain, great stuff, unless you are a Red Bull fan.

    Quite a big contact, Sergio Perez complaining of damage, Brendon Hartley able to carry on. That was certainly bigger contact than Verstappen-Hamilton.

  12. We are under a virtual safety car. Max Verstappen managed to limp home, so is still in the race, theoretically, but is in effect a lap down already.

  14. The back left tyre of Max Verstappen bangs into the front right of Lewis Hamilton. We are not sure yet what that done to Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes.

  15. 'So unlucky'

    That is so unlucky for Max Verstappen. It was a great move down the inside. The nightmare for Verstappen is the puncture happened at the first corner so he has to do the entire lap on effectively three wheels.

  16. Ricciardo out

    The cameras focus on some distraught faces in the Red Bull garage. Disaster for them. Verstappen has a puncture, and Ricciardo is out.

    Max Verstappen, who started 15th, goes wheel-to-wheel with Lewis Hamilton. Verstappen gets past him, but immediately picks up a puncture.
