Yellow flag as Stoffel Vandoorne goes off at Turn 10. He's straight across the gravel and back on the track just ahead of his McLaren team-mate Fernando Alonso.

Luminous green flow-vis paint on Sergio Perez's pink Force India. Looks like he's taking his car to a '90s rave.

It's ominous, I have to say. Mercedes 1-2, Lewis Hamilton four tenths ahead.

Up to third for Kimi Raikkonen on those ultrasofts after a 1:34.475. That's four tenths slower than Lewis Hamilton's time, which he did on the softs.

Lewis Hamilton pushes a bit too hard and spins. No major drama as he promptly rights himself and gets back on his way.

Kimi Raikkonen has dropped down to 14th due to not having been out on the track for a while but he's there now on ultrasofts so will be leaping back into the business end of the timesheet soon enough.

Big vibrations are good vibrations for Max Verstappen and he stays out and clocks a personal best, climbing up to fourth with 1:34.668.

What he did is as soon as he lost the car he stamped on the brakes - a natural reaction. It has flat spotted all four tyres and that will have caused big vibrations.

Oof! Max Verstappen is into the gravel as he hits the apex at the final turn, sending him sliding off the track.

"A little bit of drizzle now," says Sebastian Vettel.

He stays out, but the teams will be keeping a close eye on the skies.

"Some spots of rain," reports Stoffel Vandoorne.

That time was again on softs for Hamilton as Daniel Ricciardo splits the Mercedes to go P2 with 1:34.537. There were ultrasofts on the Red Bull, however.

Valtteri Bottas goes quickest with 1:34.661 but has his thunder immediately stolen by Lewis Hamilton, who thumps in a 1:33.999.

Early, early days but Hamilton is looking bang on it.

Stoffel Vandoorne has really struggled to keep the McLaren on the track at times in this session. He runs wide on his first run on those softs but does improve :136.756) to go 14th.

Lots of movement down in the pit lane as the rest of the drivers head back out for their next runs.

And Sergio Perez does a 1:36.051 to go sixth but there's barely anything between his and Fernando Alonso's time with Perez on the harder tyre.

Sergio Perez and Sergey Sirotkin are also out on the track now. Sirotkin is on softs with Perez on mediums.
