  4. Lewis Hamilton gets pushed back into the Mercedes garage after completing a five-lap stint. He leads a Mercedes one-two at the top of the timesheet, with Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen third and fourth respectively.

    Least favourite race

    Bob McFeil: Austria’s scenery is wonderful but the racing has never been overly fun to watch. Not many pit stops, not great overtaking spots, poor circuit in general.

  6. And Lewis Hamilton promptly goes top of the order with a lap time of 1:34.179. The reigning world champion is on softs.

  7. Meanwhile, Valtteri Bottas goes fastest of all with 1:34.387 on mediums but Lewis Hamilton is on a quick lap now.

  8. Carbon copy mistakes by Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel as they lock up and run wide at Turn 6 within a lap of each other.

  9. Pretty much everyone is on softs apart from the Williams duo, who are on ultrasofts. Sergey Sirotkin is currently sixth quickest (1:36.364) while Lance Stroll is down in 15th (1:37.253).

  10. Brendon Hartley and Marcus Ericsson have a spell at the top of the timesheet but Sergio Perez is the latest to top the timesheet as he does a 1:35.696 on softs.

    It might be something they can sort out quickly, it might be something that might take a bit longer. Most of the cars have done a lap now but still the Red Bulls in the pits and Lewis Hamilton in the pits.

  13. Kevin Magnussen goes P2 with a 1:37.656 before Pierre Gasly gets his name up on the timing screen by doing 1:38.133. Both times came on softs.

    Fourteen drivers out on the track now so we'll be seeing plenty of change at the top soon enough.

  14. We had one or two harmless spots of rain towards the end of first practice and there's a 40% chance of rain in this session.

    Not much grip out there.
