  3. Watch out!published at 14:59 British Summer Time 20 July 2018

So, so close to Daniel Ricciardo pranging into the side of Sergey Sirotkin. That would not have improved the mood of either man. Disaster averted. Just.

    Driver penalties. Fair or not?

Daniel Eckersley‏: Re: Ricciardo. People pay good money to watch qualifying, and PU grid penalties make it fairly pointless. Also yay more DRS passes from 20th on the grid. Just deduct constructor points for extra components.

Trev: What about time penalties at the end of the race, that get incrementally more per offence.

What is a fair driver penalty if a team has to change some parts of their car? Discuss. Tweet us via #bbcf1 on Twitter if you want to have to your say.

  6. Postpublished at 14:52 British Summer Time 20 July 2018

Daniel Ricciardo is only 12th, but that's because he has only gone out on the mediums in this second session.

Remember, whatever happens, Ricciardo will start at the back after grid penalties for some engine part changes. He was the quickest man in session one. Things get exciting for him again on Sunday, until then probably a case of just going through the motions.

Who should be racing in 2019 and for which teams?

Peter‏: If Mr Lewis Hamilton is the best of the best, how come Mr Valtteri Bottas is only .1 of a second behind? Couldn't be something to do with the cars could it?

William Savage: Think Ferrari will be the only "big team" with an available seat for next year and Leclerc seems destined for that. Lower down, time for Williams to give Kubica a chance, Hartley will prob go, same for Sirotikin and Ericsson. Norris in for McLaren but for who?

  8. Verstappen breaks track recordpublished at 14:45 British Summer Time 20 July 2018

For the third time in three minutes, the track record goes. Valtteri Bottas had broken it first, then Lewis Hamilton did likewise, before Max Verstappen, on the ultrasofts, just throws a 1:13.085 into the mix.

He is now our fastest man.
