  3. Ricciardo in yellow continued...published at 14:20 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2019

    Andrew Benson
    BBC Sport’s chief F1 writer

“From a working environment, the debriefs, what we go through with engineers and how many people are coming to me for feedback and from an analysis point of view, it feels like they’re leaving no stone unturned. I feel there’s a lot of attention to detail and a lot of stuff is I would say promising from an ambitious point of view.”

But there are things he can feed back in terms of where Renault can improve. “I can give what I feel in terms of in the mid corner when I come off the brake we were able to carry just a little bit more throttle; this is where we are weak so this is an area we need to work on. That sort of stuff. That is where the team will also rely on me, to try to steer them in the right direction and where was the Red Bull strong? Is that in the area we should put more emphasis on? That kind of feedback is useful for everyone.”

    Andrew Benson
    BBC Sport’s chief F1 writer

Daniel Ricciardo says he is settling in nicely at his new home with Renault. I “feel at home,” the Australian said. “I am comfortable and I don’t know everyone’s name yet but I feel like I am welcomed. For sure there is a lot for me to still learn from a technical point of view and how to get the most out of the car. But let’s say that from a feeling within the environment yes I am comfortable.”

Renault have some catching up to do before they can compete with Ricciardo’s former Red Bull team, but their new recruit says it feels like they are heading in the right direction.

Dan Wilcox: Good to see the @McLarenF1 team looking very reliable so far in testing, racking up the laps without any 'major' issues. Would be great to see them fighting to finish in the top 3 of races once again!

Blackburn lad: Now that Kimi is allowed to race instead of playing second fiddle I'm hoping both he and young Charles give Seb a seriously hard time.

    In response to Handbags (11:00)

Robert Leon Fenix: Max & everyone else.

Carl Hudson: F1 handbags this year: Verstappen and Honda when the failures start, Vettel and Leclerc when Leclerc starts beating him; Williams and Paddy Lowe when...oh, that's already started...eek!

MetaGyan: Predicting 'handbag moment' : could be "aspiring world champion" vs the "wall of champions" or even the modest railings in Monte Carlo!!

  18. Who is betting on this?published at 12:18 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2019

Percy Cross: Sadly Williams are increasingly looking like a casualty. Like Premier League football F1 is no longer a sporting contest but simply a battle between Financial Resources

Liam Dowker: @WilliamsRacing are 500/1 to win the drivers championship, Leicester were 2500/1 to win the prem when they did. Got to still be a strong chance for them to have a strong season this year.

Paul Nicholson: I still think @WilliamsRacing paint job's no.1, but Ferrari with that black trim to the famous scarlet has the 'wow' factor & you can never look past @MercedesAMGF1's silver arrow. Can't wait for a day all 3 of them are racing at the front (may be a while for 1 of them!).

Ronny Welter: Some people make it seem as if @williamsf1team is dead... Jeez, guys. They are 2 days late. It's not the end of the world. They have drivers, engineers, management in place to compete for points. Stay positive. They'll be right there like before.

Dave Hartles: If the rumours are true that it was "just" some badly designed brake parts that didn't fit and needed re-designing and fabricating, then the @WilliamsRacing, external may not be as bad as thought.

  20. 2019 sees a stronger Hamiltonpublished at 12:06 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2019

    Chris Medland
    F1 journalist in Barcelona

Hamilton says he feels stronger than in a long time after being able to take on a different approach to training over the winter. Driver weights are now separate to the car in an attempt to level the playing field for taller drivers who were forced to try and be as light as possible, and that has allowed drivers to add some more muscle mass this season.

You can visibly see the impact on a bulkier Hamilton, who says he has spent different weeks training with different people and varying the fitness work he has done over the past few months.
