What about you, Charles Leclerc? Can you put this into words?

Leclerc, speaking to Sky Sports, says: "I think if you have to win one grand prix with Ferrari it's the Italian Grand Prix. It's been a crazy week here. I come here with my first win [last week at Spa] and to win my second one here straight away with all the fans is just unbelievable.

"It was extremely difficult. Mercedes were very quick - quicker than us - and they had two cars to fight us, but we managed the race win very well and we managed to take the win home."

Putting that moment into words is proving pretty tough for some.

Piero Ferrari, son of the team's founder Enzo Ferrari, tells Sky Sports: "I have no words. Very special, very emotional. The stress was too much."

Sebastian Vettel tells Sky Sports: "I'm not happy with it. I cant be happy with my day today. We had a good start then nowhere to go lost a position, got it back, reconnected to the cars ahead, lost the rear and the couldn’t catch it.

"I'm not happy that the race was gone."

Did he see Lance Stroll? "No I didn’t see him. I struggled to get the car going, but I didn’t see him. I still love F1, but when you're not doing well, you can’t be happy."

A look at the title standings for you following today's race. Lewis Hamilton, as disappointed as he will be by the way the race panned out, hasn't lost too much ground - he's still well in control of the championship race.

Perhaps the most interesting point is that Charles Leclerc's win has taken him above Sebastian Vettel in the standings. Not a good day for Vettel, who got a 10-second stop-go penalty for his early collision with Lance Stroll.

Ferrari make it 19 wins at Monza - nine years after Fernando Alonso secured their 18th.

Meda Stamper: Do we now admit young Charles is number one driver at Ferrari since he in fact is? I like him and it’s nice for the tifosi — even though he should have been penalised and wasn’t, but it would have been sad for him to lose that way at Monza, so I will be gracious in defeat.

Moses Gicharu: Could and indeed should have been a Ferrari one-two save for the qualifying farce yesterday and Vettel's thoughtless racing today. He was well set to assault the silver arrows before the crash.

Harry: Congrats Leclerc Hats down to the lad. Could have broken under the pressure and unlike Vettel he didn’t implode.

Hamilton will be frustrated by today, but in the grand scheme of things, he has only dropped a couple of points at the top of the drivers' standings.

Lewis Hamilton, who finished in third for Mercedes: "It was great. He did a great job - congratulations to Ferrari and Charles. There was a lot of pressure from Valtteri and me, then my tyres just went off a cliff. Even if we did get closer, we couldn’t have passed.

"We got strong points for the team and we pull away from Ferrari in the constructors and that’s all that matters.

"I'm just trying to do better in each race, I've had a healthier lead in the past. Some improvements can be made to myself and my set up but it was a great race."

Valtteri Bottas, of Mercedes, who finished second: "I think we had a good strategy. We could go pretty long with the first stop and get close to him at the end.

"But I am gutted. There was no way past. Always when I was getting close the front started locking because of the lack of downforce.

"They are so quick on the straights as well, but I tried and i think that was the best we could do today."

I think some of the home support would have liked to see Fernando Alonso present Leclerc with the trophy. Alonso, the last Ferrari driver to secure an F1 win at Monza, was present today in his role as a McLaren ambassador - his first attendance at a grand prix since March.

It appears, though, that Alonso has made a very quick exit. I've heard of beating the traffic, Fernando, but that's ridiculous. Perhaps he was worried about getting home in time to watch Peaky Blinders.

"Can I speak in Italian?" says the exhausted race winner. I wouldn't fancy my chances of being fluent in a second language at such an emotional moment, so that's totally fair enough. Charles Leclerc heaves a big sigh of relief, after what is clearly an overwhelming moment, then speaks in Italian.

Then, in English: "I have never been so tired. I finished first and I'm very happy. I need to be careful with the mistakes - but none of them made me lose position today."

Let's get some reaction from the main players in today's drama...

"Good job all weekend guys, thanks for all the hard work, sorry I wasn't able to pull it off."

The Hymne Monegasque gets an outing for the second Sunday running. It is followed by the Italian anthem - to which the crowd heartily sing along. Think there will be quite a party around Monza way tonight.

The drivers are out on the podium. The roar that greets Charles Leclerc is deafening.

Karl Bristow: It's one of the iconic moments, Ferrari winning at Monza with the young gun Leclerc pushing the boundaries to make it happen. Lets hope Ferrari can deliver him a title push next season!

Francesca Gunn: Great race but I’m sorry Leclerc should have had at least two penalties against him, he forced Hamilton off track and he then gained an advantage.

Mark Duffell: Leclerc now the undoubted leader of Ferrari in F1 and a future champion. Future for Vettel looks bleaker by the race. Incredible fall from grace in the past 12 months. Totally upstaged by his younger, faster team-mate.
