So many other cars have to improve that Daniel Ricciardo in the Renault should feel safe in fourth spot.

Mercedes out in front but the rest of the field is so close. It's phenomenally tight between every other team. Ferrari, however, have joined the slowest three teams.
Hamilton two tenths clear of Valtteri Bottas at the front.
Will Ferrari make it into Q2?
Matt Claypole: The sad thing is that things for Ferrari are shaping up like the early 90's all over again. Poor cars, poisonous politics and a major fallout between Vettel and Ferrari that is akin to Prost and Ferrari in '91.
Nathan Marzan: Russell faster than Leclerc. wow. dont think Ferrari will make it to Q2
After the first runs, the bottom five is 16 Latifi (Williams), 17 Magnussen (Haas), 18 Raikkonen (Alfa Romeo), 19. Vettel (Ferrari), 20. Grosjean (Haas).
Leclerc is 14th, Giovinazzi 15th. Russell 13th and ahead of both Ferraris. Superb, George.

This is dire. Dire! Wow. Ferrari have another run but Vettel could be the slowest of all.
No problem for Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas, first and second respectively. Daniel Ricciardo is continuing his good weekend and is third. Carlos Sainz fourth, then the Red Bull pair of Max Verstappen and Alexander Albon with seven minutes to go.
Will Ferrari make it into Q2?
Chau Cheong: Suddenly Q1 is quite exciting. Thanks for Ferrari.
Karen Waddy: Maybe the Tifosi really do have magical powers and we're now seeing what happens to Ferarri when they're not at the races?!
Sebastian Vettel is in the bottom five. Only the Haas pair is currently keeping him off the back row.
The Ferrari of Charles Leclerc is better than the Haas pair, but slower than George Russell!
What a lap from the Williams man.
Ferrari in trouble here.

I still think Ferrari will get into Q2. Surely they can't be behind Alfa Romeo and Haas?
No problems for Max Verstappen with a 1:43.808 to take the lead.

Nicholas Latifi could be one to watch here. Usually his team-mate George Russell out-qualifies him but Latifi was a good four tenths up on him and in 13th place in third practice earlier on. He's looked quite comfortable all weekend.

The Haas pair are the first to set times, with Grosjean quicker than Magnussen, three tenths better. A success for them would be getting into Q2.
Your thoughts on Ferrari's issues this season
Relexpool: As a Vettel fan, I don't really care any more if he get beaten by Lecrec. We know that in the best car, Vettel is the best but if the car is bad like it is now, he is one of the worst. So this is all Ferrari's fault.
Chris Lord: Its a Ferrari 1992 season with odd podium, it isn’t the worst in history like 1980.
Here we go.
Eighteen minutes of Q1. Everyone gets out there, the fastest 15 advance into Q2.

Spa is a great track, with some of the best corners in the world. It's going to be adrenaline-filled and it'll be important to get everything right.
