To a man, the drivers loved their first experience of Mugello at the circuit’s inaugural Grand Prix. For Max Verstappen, it was “pretty cool”. Charles Leclerc, who did a short test for Ferrari at the track before the season, declared it “unbelievable”; Lando Norris “pretty awesome. Lewis Hamilton said: “I love it,” saying the section through Turns Six, Seven, Eight and Nine - Casanova, Savelli and the famous Arrabiatta One and Two - was “incredibly fast” and “pretty intense”.

The messages from all were the same - the fast corners in sector two were thrilling; the tyres were getting a tough time; and the race was going to be extremely tough physically, especially for their necks.

Here is George Russell taking us around those undulating high-speed corners.

I get more stressed on the school run than he does pinging round at 150mph+.

Mugello has a spot on the 2020 calendar as part of the coronavirus rejig that has seen races elsewhere cancelled.

The circuit in its present form opened in the early 70s but the history of racing in the area stretches back to the 1920s where racers took to the local public roads.

Ferrari use it as a test base nowadays.

Sebastian Vettel bemoaned the fact it wasn't on the calendar back in 2012, describing it as an "incredible circuit with lots of high-speed corners."

Former Red Bull man Mark Webber said , external10 laps of Mugello was "the same as doing 1000 laps around Abu Dhabi track in terms of satisfaction."

Now, the drivers get a chance to feel what it is like in full race weekend mode.

Renaissance Art. Rolling hills. Delicious wines. Hollywood A-listers on romantic getaways.

Well, for this weekend at least, Tuscany is in the spotlight for other reasons.

The pace of life in this little corner of Italy just got a whole lot faster. The ambiance just got a whole lot louder. The technology got a whole lot snazzier.

Welcome to the Tuscan Grand Prix weekend.
