Jeremiah says: Have seen the tweets of Grosjean memories of podiums in 2012 and 2013. It will require extra tonnes of adrenaline for him and his car to be on the podium this weekend! Not unless a miracle happens.
After ten minutes out on track it is Sainz who has set the quickest time, a 1:30.989, followed by Verstappen and Norris.

Former Renault driver on BBC Radio 5 live
"Most of the drivers have gone out on the Pirelli test tyre, which everyone has to run and with this extra set of tyres it will be a busy session."
Free practice two is underway!
First out is Kimi Raikkonen in the Alfa Romeo...
George Russell and Kimi Raikkonen sat out the earlier session as their respective teams got their test drivers out on track to put down a few laps, but George and Kimi fans do not worry as you will see these drivers out on track shortly.
Haas driver Romain Grosjean was on the podium at this track not once, but twice and that was back in 2012 and 2013...
Will he be on the podium again this weekend?

You only have a handful of minutes to have a drink, or make a sandwich (or whatever else you are planning to eat, in the case of the F1 5 live team it will probably be parsnips) before we see cars going out at the Bahrain GP!
The clock is ticking...
Everything looks better in the dark!

Among the many rule changes that have been discussed this season is a driver salary cap in the future. At the moment, there is a unanimous agreement between the teams to introduce a $30m cap across both cars in 2023. On Thursday, however, Lewis Hamilton, the sport’s highest earner at about £40m a year, pointed out a flaw in the plan.
F1’s American owners have used as their model for the proposal US sports such as the NFL that have a salary cap. But Hamilton pointed out that, unlike athletes in those events, F1 drivers are largely unable to increase their income with selling their own image rights commercially.
“The salary cap is supposed to be implemented probably when I am not even here,” he said. "I do think that the drivers here are the stars of the sport. They’re the ones who bring their brands, and their reputation helps elevate the sport, and help them [the brands] travel around the world.
“If you look at other sports, there have been salary caps. I think the one difference is that those places the individuals own their image in many areas so then they can try to maximise their image elsewhere. But this sport controls pretty much the driver’s image.
“I do think about the next stars coming through and I don’t see why they should be handed that if they are bringing something huge to the sport. It is a multi-billion dollar sport and they should be rewarded for what they bring to it.”
In the opening free practice session this morning it was the seven-time world champion, Lewis Hamilton who set the pace, lapping a 1:29.033.
The rest of the top ten looked like this:
Bottas
Perez
Sainz
Gasly
Verstappen
Albon
Ocon
Stroll
Ricciardo
