We are going to have a race on. Even though I think Mercedes missed a chance to pit Hamilton and put him in the lead there is a solid chance he could do it on track with fresher tyres.
Hamilton is eating into Verstappen's lead at some pace. It was 5.5 seconds now it's 1.6 seconds. Mercedes with a tactical masterstroke? We'll see.

TheVoiceTroll: Biggest pit stop winner is Bottas this time round.
Chris Wignall: Mercedes have blown this by not pitting immediately after Verstappen.
By the way, everyone now is on the mediums. Lewis Hamilton immediately sets the fastest lap on his.
It's a good first half to this race. The story of this one still to be written.
"If you can follow Lewis... and catch Verstappen."
Alonso: "Engine is firing. The spark plug and everything.
Alpine: "Understood we're managing the issue."

Mercedes don't agree with Jolyon. They think Hamilton would have come out behind Perez and weren't sure they had Verstappen out of the pit window either.

Reece Young: Mazepinholding people up with blue flags every single race. What is he going to do at Monaco? He's seriously dangerous.
Dani Alani: How long until we see the top teams calling for Mazepin out? Toto did NOT sound happy...

If Mercedes had have pitted the lap after Verstappen Hamilton would have been in the lead. Now he has to close a six-second gap and pass him on track.
Max Verstappen regains the lead of this race and his lead is at 5.5 seconds, although Hamilton is on fresh tyres, while Verstappen has had four more laps on his.
It's a stop of 2.7 seconds for Lewis Hamilton, that's 1.5 seconds better than Red Bull's effort on Max Verstappen.
In comes Lewis Hamilton to the pits. This could be the defining moment of the race here.
"We're now 2.5 seconds, so look after your tyres. Front left and rear left are a limitation. Hamilton is going long."

Mercedes now know they will come out behind Max but want to overtake him at the end of the race.

Track position is so important around this track. It is very interesting not to see Mercedes pit Hamilton. They could have put him ahead.
"Blue flags. Blue flags. Michael [Masi] this guy makes us lose this position."
Once again the anger is directed at Nikita Mazepin for holding up someone. Last week, he got a five-second penalty for impeding then-leader Sergio Perez.
Hamilton in first and Leclerc in second have not pitted. Verstappen in third has stopped as has Sergio Perez in fourth and Valtteri Bottas in fifth.
Hamilton: "Shall I stay out."
Mercedes: "Stay out. Keep your head down."
"Tyres are OK."
