Wherever he ends up on the grid this weekend, Barcelona will always be a special place for Hamilton, as it's the circuit the Mercedes driver secured his 100th career pole position, edging out title rival Max Verstappen by 0.036 seconds last year.

Hamilton is the only member of this exclusive club. It'll be a long time before he has any company.

If anyone knows how to put their car at the front of the field for a Sunday grand prix in the Spanish sun, it's Lewis Hamilton.

Granted, the chances of it happening again today are not as favourable as in recents times, but the seven-time world champion has been on pole position on six occasions in the last 10 years.

We'll save Pastor Maldonado for tomorrow...

Different paces in the cars as well. Getting it all hooked up and putting it all together is going to be absolutely fascinating.
