Max Verstapen's advantage over team-mate Sergio Perez, who is on a fresh set of mediums, is 16.542 seconds.

If the Dutchman takes the chequered flag in Barcelona this afternoon, we'll have a new championship leader.

Charles Leclerc has withdrawn from this race he had to retire. Ferrari say it was due to an as yet unidentified power unit issue. Hard times for Leclerc.

Sho: Red Bull 1-2 confirmed then. Easy race for them now.

David Mateer: Red Bull strategy is obvious. They'll get Checo to create a buffer to allow Max to stop again.

Absolutely heart-breaking. It's happened to Leclerc before hasn't it? Where he's been in a dominate position but it has brought the race alive and handed an advantage over to Red Bull.

Looks like Charles Leclerc had to retire the Ferrari because of a power unit issue. We don't know yet exactly what the issue is.

Quixoticgeek: Lewis is now 6th. He's doing some magic in that car today.

No one-stop strategy for Sergio Perez. The Mexican comes in for a fresh set of mediums and Max Verstappen now leads the race.

The Mercedes of George Russell is being brought in by the Silver Arrows for his second pit stop. He comes back out on medium tyres, into the sunshine, in third.

Perez one of the reasons they took him on at Red Bull is because he's an absolute magician when it comes to making these tyres last so I just wonder if he can work some magic with them and actually do this as a one stop.

It would be extraordinary but I tell you what there has been some extraordinary drives going on out there.

Lando Norris comes into the pits from eighth. Can McLaren hand the 22-year-old a speedy stop? Not quite. A rear right tyre doesn't want to come off and Norris is left waiting just a tad longer than he would've liked.

I'm intrigued in Verstappen's strategy here, he's gone for soft tyres, he's now banging in fastest lap after fastest lap, chasing George Russell.

Both drivers we would fully expect to make another pitstop.
