Do you what to know Lando Norris' sprint race strategy? The McLaren driver has told Sky Sports his secret weapon for today: "I’ve got a rope, I’m attaching it to the Red Bull of Perez ahead of me, and just following him all the way through!"

  16. Tough times at McLarenpublished at 15:23 British Summer Time 9 July 2022

    Jamie Chadwick
Williams F1 development driver and W Series champion

It's a strange one over at McLaren. A bit like at Mercedes, they just don't seem to know the reason why - it's not a direct fix to the problems they are having.

Yesterday was the first time I have heard Lando Norris talking about braking being a limitation for him. I know Daniel Ricciardo struggles with that, but Lando I've rarely heard speak about that.

A track like this, that's going to cause big problems but not be so nice.

Only a short trip back to the past in order for us to find out what happened at the last sprint event.

After losing the lead at the start of the race, Max Verstappen caught and passed Charles Leclerc with two laps to go to win the short dash at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in April.

Sergio Perez fought up from seventh on the grid to finish third, while Carlos Sainz moved up from 10th to take fourth.

Yuki Tsunoda admitted on Thursday that he suffers from what he described as an "overheated" brain in grands prix. Tsunoda says he was already working with "a psychologist/trainer" since his Formula 2 days, and now Alpha Tauri have hired a new psychologist to help him better deal with the pressures out on track.

"I don't know [if] currently it’s working well or not," he said. "If it's working well, I think maybe I didn't have the crash (with team-mate Pierre Gasly at Silverstone) but I have to take a bit more time because he has to understand more about myself, and also we have to understand what direction we have to take.

"Definitely one of the limitations is that I start to get quite overheated… overheated, especially my brain, in the car. But I was in some situation that makes it slightly better. But I know that I have to improve myself, those parts, to have more consistency. So hopefully the new trainer will work well and we can work well for the future."

Red Bull's Max Verstappen, who starts on pole position for today's sprint, speaking to Sky Sports: "It will be close between ourselves and Ferrari - and with Mercedes, to be honest, hopefully it's going to be a good fight."

On the thousands of fans at the Red Bull Ring: "It seems like they're having a lot of fun also outside of the track! So that's always good to see."
