A beautiful move from Charles Leclerc. Unbelievable! He was so late onto the brakes into turn four!
Charles Leclerc makes the move on Max Verstappen on the inside, uses DRS and the Ferrari driver leads the Austrian Grand Prix. The Dutchman left the gate open and Leclerc said 'thank you very much'.

That was a really nice attempt from Charles Leclerc to take the lead, it came from way back. I think he just rolled off the brakes.
He really has to get this done while Max is struggling...
The front two reach Turn Four and Charles Leclerc is testing the waters once again on leaders Verstappen but the Ferrari holds back and continues to apply pressure on the Red Bull from second place.

It is two Ferraris against one Red Bull at the front now and that gives Ferrari the chance to play some strategy games.
They might bring in one of their drivers early to see if they can spook Max Verstappen to follow suit to cover off that threat. A bit of a pincer movement.
It would make sense to have Charles Leclerc on the more favourable of those two strategies. What that is though, I don't think anyone knows!
Turn Three is where Charles Leclerc goes for it on Max Verstappen but the Dutchman stays in position. "I cannot hold this long," says the Red Bull driver.
The gap between the front two is 0.397secs but Leclerc isn't risking his race on lap nine and is staying put, just in the mirrors of world champion Verstappen.

The damage on George Russell's car has them queuing up behind him. Without someone in front of him punching a hole he can follow through with DRS he is going to struggle.
Fastest lap flashes next to Chalrles Leclerc's name and the Ferrari is within DRS zone on Max Verstappen, who leads the race. He's looking at his options as to whether he can pass the Dutchman but the Monegasque driver is holding his cards close to his chest and stays in second.
Lewis Hamilton and Mick Schumacher gave us some box office racing yesterday during the sprint, with the Mercedes coming out on top, but the German Haas driver has got his own back and nicked Hamilton's place and moves up to seventh.

I don't love what Carlos Sainz did actually on that first lap. He seemed to floor it into the corner, come off the track and rejoin ahead of George Russell. You are not supposed to do that.
The outside of Turn Four is where the contact between the Red Bull of Sergio Perez and the Mercedes of George Russell happened.
On the replays, it looks like Perez is slightly ahead of Russell. "You saw it clear?" says Perez on the team radio. "I gave him room. "
