Perez on Hamilton: Take two. Checo has his sights set on second place in the standings and to the delight of some Mexican fans in the crowd, moves through on the Mercedes man to take third place.

But the worry I had for Sergio Perez is Lewis Hamilton is a smooth operator, really difficult to pass, and Perez is making too many mistakes right now.

    Lap 45/58

The Red Bull of Sergio Perez is gaining rapidly on the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc, but first he needs to pick off the Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton. A small lock-up for the Mexican but he goes through on the seven-time world champion. The battle is over, however, as Hamilton just bides his time and passes the Red Bull seconds later with the help of a DRS and a decent slipstream.

    Lap 43/58

Sergio Perez has moved through to fourth place and Red Bull are happy that the Mexican has the pace to catch up with his championship rival Charles Leclerc, who has only stopped once in the race so far.

It is interesting what the front two are both going to do. I am assuming they are both going to only stop once. If Max Verstappen comes in he is basically handing the race win to the one person he didn't want to today - Charles Leclerc.

Engineer: What are your thoughts at this stage?

Verstappen: I am ok for now, I think the last 10 laps will be critical.

Realistically, Sergio Perez needs to be a second-and-a-half quicker than Charles Leclerc on every lap AND he has to get past both Mercedes.

Ferrari have got to react. They either come in this lap and go toe to toe with Sergio Perez or do you be brave, box Carlos Sainz and keep Charles Leclerc out there and see if he can go to the end and take second place.

    I am saying plan C is a one-stop.
