The McLaren is still being driven by Lando Norris. Give that guy a special medal.

His latest lap is slightly scuppered by the Mercedes of George Russell but as we dip below 13 minutes, I'm sure the 22-year-old won't mind.

    F1 journalist in Bahrain

Happy hour for fast times appeared to be a bit earlier today, but there’s still some drivers - such as Yuki Tsunoda here - pushing for a lap time on the softer compounds under the lights.

At Turn 11 you can really tell the difference, as drivers on low fuel are much later on the brakes and picking up the throttle, aided by the extra grip from the tyres but also less weight pushing them into the corner.

Watching an F1 car on low fuel being pushed to its absolute limit is one of sport’s great spectacles. The drivers are still leaving a little bit of margin as it’s testing, but qualifying next week should be something special.
