Carlos Sainz, Charles Leclerc, Nico Hulkenberg, George Russell and Valtteri Bottas make up the rest of the top 10 as things stand.

Nine of the top 10 have been out with just Valtteri Bottas opting to go attack with just one run.

We are not surprised by Fernando Alosno anymore he's just always finding the absolute best out of the Aston Martin.

Fernando Alonso crosses the line and goes second quickest, within four tenths of Max Verstappen's time.

Max Verstappen is straight into provisional pole position as he does a 1:33.977, that's half a second quicker than anyone else.

I actually think behind Max Verstappen it's quite intriguing to be honest, Sergio Perez vs Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc that could be an interesting battle. Who could win the inter-team battle between Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, they have been pretty close in terms of lap time, and can Fernando Alonso get himself amongst the Ferraris and the McLarens.

When you watch the Red Bull, watch how it's able to rotate at the hairpin and carry what looks like five, six, seven kilometres more than any other car out there. Everyone else is struggling with front locking, but they seem to be able to bleed off the break and just fire speed through corners, miles miles more than anyone else.

Some of the, let's call it the lower teams, have found a little bit of form here in China for whatever reason whether that's the grip levels or the nature of the circuit.
