The first goal of the higher education session at Leeds Trinity University earlier this week was a belter from TitansRL .

Maybe not quite Falcao-esque - but as well-executed a chip as any man in a skin-tight hot-pink outfit is likely to achieve in this year's FA People's Cup.

Here's Howe from his Newport County days before he returned to Kettering

Excellent niche footballer team name from Rene Howe FC who are competing in the Under-16 Boys category Northampton...

They named themselves after their favourite Kettering Town striker and have been friends since the age of seven.

Two of the team-mates have some personal reasons why they are taking part.

Football has been important for Aaron since he was a young child and is looking to show people how he has stood up to bullies at school while Oscar has always struggled with learning difficulties and football has only been his outlet where he can act himself and enjoy himself.

    Good luck to the team.

I bet you've never seen that before. Only in the FA People's Cup!

  19. Weather set fairpublished at 18:43 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2017

Storm Doris mercifully passed over before this weekend's main event, although perhaps not-so-mercifully for some of the hardy souls who were playing early through gales yesterday.

(Incidentally, why can't low-pressure systems get by these days without a pet name? I remember when a storm was just that - a storm. Maybe I'm getting old.)

Anyway... the weather's looking OK across England for those playing outdoors this evening. Snow is confined to Scotland, so it's just Cloudy Nigel in the west and Clear Skies Monica further east. Boom boom.

You can check your local forecast here.
