  5. Reactionpublished at 15:46 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2015

Coneygree trainer Mark Bradstock, speaking to Channel 4: "He's a fantastic horse. We've done it before in smaller races and we will still keep doing it, but it's fantastic to do it on the big stage. The forecast was so up and down, the rain was meant to be coming on Tuesday, but luckily we made the right decision. It's brilliant."

Former jockey Andrew Thornton tells BBC 5 live: "Like all great jockeys, Nico wasn't worried about anything else. He had his own game plan, got a clean start and the first two fences set him up nicely and the jockeys behind couldn't go with the pace. It was a flawless display of jumping and a cool calm and collected performance from Nico in his first Cheltenham Gold Cup."

Where was AP McCoy on Carlingford Lough you ask? Well he was a fair way back. We're still waiting for the full results to be officially confirmed.

Not the fairytale finish many of the enormous crowd at Cheltenham today would have wanted, but McCoy's got another chance at 17:15 GMT.

And there's plenty of romance about Coneygree's win - what a performance that was.

The winning trainer's wife Sara Bradstock, daughter of racing great Lord John Oaksey who died in 2012, told BBC Radio 5 live: "Dad's looking down on us - it is just amazing. All of these people who said the horse is just a novice but he knows how to run and knows how to jump."
