Rachael Blackmore's historic win was undoubtedly the story of the opening day of Cheltenham Festival and you can read Frank Keogh's day one report here.

It has been an afternoon to remember for Rachael Blackmore as she became the first female rider to win the Champion Hurdle on Honeysuckle.

"This was never even a dream - it was so far from what I thought could happen in my life," she said.

"Maybe there is a lesson in that for everyone out there.

"You can't do it without getting on the right horse and I have been extremely lucky in being with Henry's yard. Being in the right place at the right time is massive.

"There is no deal about being a female jockey anymore. If you want to be a jockey you can be a jockey, drive on.

"To young people out there, if you want to do something go and do it. For me standing here right now - anything can happen."

It was a clean race with a good tempo set by Tom Scudamore on Remastered.

Jack Kennedy found the gap, there were three in line at the last and Galvin stayed that little bit better.

All the horses seemed to jump exceptionally well.

Galvin wins the National Hunt Chase.

Remastered fell away after leading for much of the race. From then it was between Galvin and Next Destination with the former just edging out the win.

Over the last and Galvin makes his move. Next Destination in his sights...

Macgiloney pulls up five out while Lithic is easing off. It is still Remastered from Next Destination.

Next Destination continues to keep up with leader Remastered heading to the 15th. No-one making any significant pushes yet.

Remastered is jumping well as the field clear the ninth fence. Galvin is creeping up and into fifth.

A steady pace in the early stages as Remastered continues to lead by a couple of lengths over Next Destination and Snow Leopardess.

Twenty three fences to overcome, making this the longest race of the day. Remastered leads the way.

The final race of the day is a go! All 12 runners are away.

Galvin is looking relaxed as he heads down to the start for the day's final race. He's been well backed for the win.

Final race of day one, the longest of the day, and arguably the most open.

Remastered for trainer David Pipe and jockey Tom Scudamore comes in on the back of three wins in a row but Next Destination from the Paul Nicholls yard is a strong challenger.

He also won last time out and his stamina could be a factor here.

But don't rule out the likes of Galvin and Snow Leopardess.

"Coming here we knew he was in great form and Noel (Meade) was very adamant that he had a very big chance, we were just worried he didn't have enough experience. But he has won very well."

Some huge relief for the bookmakers here.

This is a fantastic result for Noel Meade and particularly for Sean Flanagan.

He jumped the last well and was authoritative in his own way but you could have given me 20 picks in this race and I don't think I would have chosen the winner.
