Belfast Giants go down to a 4-3 defeat by Guildford Flames with former Giant Lewis Hook scoring the winner for the visitors.

Tonight was also about paying tribute to Adam Johnson....

This will go down as a tough loss for the Belfast Giants. They created enough chances to win the game but in the end credit must go to the Flames and especially their penalty killers who saw off three Giants powerplays in the final period.

With the final play of the game the Flames cleared another puck of the line. The Giants now have their first losing streak of the season and will travel to Manchester tomorrow.

The tempo didn't slow in the second period and the Giants have come close to equalising again but it's the Flames who will take a one-goal lead into the final period.

Back and forth we go, The penalty was called on Adam Keefe for an unsuccessful video challenge on the disallowed goal and the Flames score with the man advantage through Lewis Hook, his second of the game

Giants think they have the lead but after a review the goal is disallowed for goaltender interference and Kohei Sato gets a penalty so Flames on the powerplay.

We're level again as Charlie Curti and Ara Nazarian set up Quinn Preston for the tap-in.

Well, it didn't take long, just a minute in fact for Ryan Tait to put the Flames ahead going 5-hole on Giants netminder Tyler Beskorowany

After a sequence of events that saw the puck cleared of the Guildford line, Daniel Tedesco miss an open net and Travis Brown hit the post, the Giants finally score when Kohei Sato's speed around the back of the net sets up Mark Cooper in front to score.

After an emotional pre-game - where the minute's silence was impeccably observed - the puck is dropped and the Elite League clash between the Belfast Giants and Guildford Flames is under way.

The Flames are looking for their first league win of the season having only a pair of overtime losses in their first six games.

The Giants' 13-game winning streak came to an end last time out in Dundee. They come into the game in fourth place, four points off top spot but with a couple of games in hand.
