    Good night and good luck.

  2. Postpublished at 00:41 British Summer Time 24 September 2022

Well a brilliant night for Irish fighters ends on a low note for Peter Queally.

But what a win for Benson Henderson, eh? A masterclass performance and one step closer to a lightweight title shot.

Henderson outwrestled Ireland's Queally to earn a unanimous decision victory at Bellator 285 in Dublin.

Queally, 33, had no answer to American Henderson's grappling as the 38-year-old controlled the majority of the fight against the cage.

For Queally, it caps a disappointing 10 months which have produced back-to-back defeats.

"This is not the end at all. Peter Queally is still a savage, still a dog. If you don't think he will learn from this event, you're mistaken. He'll be back stronger than ever I'm sure."

“Some amazing body shots, those elbows, everything accumulated round upon round. Benson was a moving train and there was nothing to do about it. Queally didn't have an answer, an incredible performance."

  6. 'He's a zombie'published at 00:25 British Summer Time 24 September 2022

Benson Henderson is animated on the mic after his win. He calls out lightweight champion Patricky 'Pitbull' Freire and unbeaten contender Usman Nurmagomedov.

Henderson: "I wasn’t too happy about the point [deduction]. Dublin, I told you guys. Give it up for Peter Queally, he’s a true hometown boy. Thank you for coming out.”

“Man, Peter is tough as heck. I know I landed a couple clean elbows. He’s a zombie. I landed clean elbows and a great poker face, kept coming forward.”

  7. Result: Henderson wins on pointspublished at 00:23 British Summer Time 24 September 2022

    Peter Queally v Benson Henderson

An easy decision for the judges, all three of them see a victory for Benson Henderson.

Stats tell the story of a one-sided fight.

  8. Round 5published at 00:17 British Summer Time 24 September 2022

    Peter Queally v Benson Henderson

The crowd is practically silent as this fight comes to a close. Benson Henderson, in my opinion, is a clear winner.

The former UFC champion was simply a level above Queally tonight, picking his shots and controlling every exchange. Henderson almost lands an incredible head kick from a downed position at the death too.

Masterclass from Henderson but Queally never got going, a real shame for him and the Irish crowd.

  9. Round 4published at 00:11 British Summer Time 24 September 2022

    Peter Queally v Benson Henderson

Peter Queally is dropped early in the fourth round. Benson Henderson moves in but Queally does well to cover up.

Sinead Kavanagh cuts a nervous figure at cage-side watching her gym team-mate Queally. The Irishman, trapped against the cage, eats several painful into the ribs.

This one is slipping away from Queally.

  10. Round 3published at 00:06 British Summer Time 24 September 2022

    Peter Queally v Benson Henderson

Benson Henderson is controlling the pace of this one now. Again he finds success with elbows at close-range.

Peter Queally hasn't really found his groove yet and is not throwing a lot back at the moment.

Queally is famously a slow starter and will know it's a five-round fight. He could be well behind on the scorecards, but anything can happen with the 'Showstopper'!

  11. Round 2published at 00:00 British Summer Time 24 September 2022

    Peter Queally v Benson Henderson

A strike to the groin of Peter Queally causes a lengthy stoppage.

The crowd serenades Queally and Henderson is deducted a point for the low blow.

Henderson is throwing big shots at times, but Queally continues to come forward. That round might have been the American's, but he did have a point taken off him.

  14. Round 1published at 23:50 British Summer Time 23 September 2022

    Peter Queally v Benson Henderson

Peter Queally begins brightly, pushing Benson Henderson back immediately and trying to land early.

Henderson rides the pressure and responds with a heavy elbow as he spun away from the cage.

The American is finding success with some kicks and opens a cut on the top of Queally's head. A close round, perhaps edged by Henderson.

    Paul Battison
    BBC Sport in Dublin

Every single fan that I can see is on their feet, belting out 'Zombie' by the Cranberries.

It feels like a concert, rather than a fight.

It must be an incredible feeling for Peter Queally as he makes his way to the cage.

    Inspiring stuff.

The main event is now moments away.

Are you ready for goosebumps? Because up next isPeter Queally's walk-out.

There is nothing quite like listening to an Irish crowd bellow out 'Zombie' by the Cranberries.

We've got an epic rendition of the classic song below.

  19. Manhoef calls it a daypublished at 23:28 British Summer Time 23 September 2022

Yoel Romero barks, yes barks, at the camera before his trademark salute.

Melvin Manhoef, who retires off the back of his 16th loss of his career, shares a nice moment with Romero once he gets off the floor.

The Dutch legend leaves his gloves in the cage after 27 years and 51 MMA fights. Wow.
