Australia with the first centre pass. The ball sails out of court on the back line and Serena laps the ball up.

Off the ball pops into the England shooting circle and the Roses draw first blood, then consolidate

It is a big ask for England, but Australia are slightly depleted with both their captain and vice-captain out injured.

The flags coming out always gives me chills, but once the game gets underway you forget all about the pomp and ceremony of it.

On being on the losing team to England in the Commonwealth Games final last April:

"It’s fantastic and for the Roses to win the medal has brought more netball attention and want it to be the best that it can be.

"If we want it to be an Olympic sport then we need Europe, China and the USA on board."

  12. What do England need to do?published at 17:48 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2019

    England v Australia (18:00 GMT)

For England to win their inaugural Quad Series title, they need to beat Australia by five goals or more tonight.

Obviously, a win would mean the two teams were level on points (four) but Australia currently have the superiors goal percentage, which is what is used to work out who wins the series.

Australia goal percentage after two games: 121.05%

England goal percentage after two games: 111.24%

So, for example, a 55-50 win for the Roses would do it.

New Zealand 62 v 60 South Africa AET

England defender Jodie Gibson and shooter Kadeen Corbin have pretty much summed up the state of international netball this weekend.

The New Zealand v South Africa Quad Series game was ferocious and oozing with tension as the Silver Ferns needed extended extra time to beat the Proteas.

South Africa just would not give up and the sides could not be separated after normal and extra time, with the Kiwis taking the win after going two goals clear in sudden death.

South Africa haven't beaten the Kiwis since 1995...the wait goes on.

  15. Can England recover?published at 17:42 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2019

    England v Australia (18:00 GMT)

England will have had less than 24 hours to recover from their shock three-goal loss to South Africa on Saturday.

The Proteas played with confidence and skill and the Roses were not quite at their best.

Will Tracey Neville make changes to her starting line up?

Players will be fatigued, but that is also the case for the Australians, who came through a testing match against New Zealand
