Heartbreak for England, but they've still got one more game to go. Tracey Neville's side could still come away from Liverpool with a bronze medal.

England will face South Africa in the battle for bronze on Sunday afternoon.

The Roses played South Africa in the preliminary stages and won 58-47, but recovering mentally from today's defeat will not be easy.

Sarah Clarke: Having seen that semi-final I just fell in love with netball again after 30 years away.

This was incredible from Shannon Saunders.

New Zealand coach Noeline Taurua said on BBC Two:

"It's massive for us. I'm a bit lost for words. We've got one more game to go to get the gold and that's what we're going for.

"It was definitely a lot of heart and a lot of fight. We've got good structures and when we got torn apart we were able to come back to those.

"We've already won in some respects. We were underdogs coming into this game. There's nothing else for us to worry about."

England threw absolutely everything they could at that.

Jitesh Parmar: Heartbreak for England but unbelievable performance by New Zealand! Ameliaranne Ekenasio & Maria Folau were phenomenal.

New Zealand's Maria Folau: "I cannot put into words what just happened. The belief and the discipline was there. It was about keeping our structure and process and plonking the ball in one by one, which is not easy against a classy side."

On Ameliaranne Ekensio: "I've been fan-girling her all tournament. I'm extremely proud to play alongside a player with so much calm and poise. When you have got a GA like that, it makes my job very easy."

I'm gutted for Tracey. She's been so passionate about wanting the gold. To come here and not get that is heartbreaking.

They're going to have to fight for the bronze medal tomorrow and be proud as England players.

England coach Tracey Neville said on BBC Two:

"New Zealand came out really strong in that first quarter. We didn't learn our lessons quick enough. We seemed to be chasing the game which is something we haven't done in this tournament. We gave it our all but didn't have the legs.

"That was a class performance from New Zealand. You can't make basic errors like that. That was probably the only match in the tournament where we made basic errors.

"There were opportunities for us to take that game and we left it too late. This tournament is quite brutal. We've got another game tomorrow and we go again."

The England players are leaving the arena and although a huge majority of fans here would have hoped they would have witnessed the Roses qualifying for their first ever World Cup final, they still give them a standing ovation as they leave the court.

England's Serena Guthrie said: "We are gutted. There are no guarantees in this game, unfortunately, and it doesn't matter if you have one cap or 100 caps, you have to earn those wins and today we didn't do enough.

"We knew they were going to come out hard. It would have been nice to get an early start but we came back into it well.

"We had our chances but New Zealand were the better team on the day. It was one of the best defensive teams we have played against in recent teams and they reverted back to that more traditional type of Kiwi play.

"I just want to thank everyone who has been with us on the journey. It is not the colour we wanted but there is still a medal up for grabs and we want to be on that podium."

You could tell from the start that England weren't on it today. The shooters looked nervous and they made more errors than they have done recently. For a large part of the game they looked like they were going to fight through errors but New Zealand deserved it today.

England still have a bronze medal to play for.

They won bronze at the last World Cup in Sydney and will look to back that result up on Sunday.
