    Tyrone 0-9 Monaghan 1-9

    Cian Murtagh
BBC Sport NI at Healy Park

We had all wondered if Colm Cavanagh would be fit enough to start this game but it turned out he wasn't fit enough to finish it.

A quiet game from the All-Star midfielder before he was replaced by Declan McClure at half-time.

An early worry for Monaghan at the start of the second half as Conor McManus falls heavily when challenging for a ball.

He looked in real difficulty but he's going to soldier on.

    Tyrone 0-9 Monaghan 1-9

Lee Brennan does the needful for Tyrone from a free. His third of the match. Mickey Harte has made a defensive change early in the second half as Michael McKernan is introduced for Cathal McCarron. Malachy O'Rourke also makes a substitution as Conor McCarthy takes over from Dessie Ward.

    Enda McGinley

Tyrone were playing their expansive style at the start but it was important for Monaghan to establish a foothold in the game. They did that and managed to get a few scores themselves and now Tyrone have the biggest questions to answer.

  8. Two-point lead a huge positive - Finlaypublished at 17:23 British Summer Time 20 May 2018

    Tyrone 0-8 Monaghan 1-7

    Quote Message

Monaghan made a slow start but were getting first to any loose balls that broke on the ground. They won't be happy with some of their decision-making but going into the break with a two-point lead is a huge positive for them.

  9. 'Lung-buster of a contest'published at 17:19 British Summer Time 20 May 2018

    Tyrone 0-8 Monaghan 1-7

    Cian Murtagh
BBC Sport NI at Healy Park

It's a game being played at a lung-bursting pace - but only between the stoppages for injuries and frees.

Tyrone appeared to be in control with Lee Brennan looking a real threat on his championship debut and Connor McAliskey getting some nice long-range points.

But Vinny Corey's well-taken goal may well have broken this game open a little. Tyrone will have to come out of their shell and find scores but they will have to do so without the injured Mark Bradley.

The umbrellas are back up at Healy Park - but it has not taken any of the heat out of this one.

  10. What a time to get a goalpublished at 17:16 British Summer Time 20 May 2018

    Tyrone 0-8 Monaghan 1-7

    Cian Murtagh
BBC Sport NI at Healy Park

Mattie Donnelly had just cancelled out Rory Beggan's towering free and it looked as though Tyrone would take a two-point lead with them into half-time.

Instead, Vinny Corey's cool finish had utterly changed the complexion of this game with Wylie adding his further point before the break. Monaghan will, literally, have the wind in their sails in the second half.

  11. Half-timepublished at 17:13 British Summer Time 20 May 2018

    Tyrone 0-8 Monaghan 1-7

Drew Wylie probably shouldn't still be on the pitch after hauling down Connor McAliskey not long ago but the corner-back has just swung over a magnificent point from play to end the first half action. Monaghan two ahead at the break. Quite a turnaround from earlier on.

  12. Morgan escapes with yellow cardpublished at 17:11 British Summer Time 20 May 2018

    Tyrone 0-8 Monaghan 1-6

Immediately after Monaghan's goal, Tyrone keeper Niall Morgan looks fortunate to escape with only a yellow card after he trips Jack McCarron of the ball. David Coldrick took plenty of time to consult with his fellow officials over the incident.

  13. Goal: Corey strike puts Monaghan aheadpublished at 17:09 British Summer Time 20 May 2018

    Tyrone 0-8 Monaghan 1-6

After Beggan thumps over another glorious long-range free, Mattie Donnelly replies from play at the other end but Monaghan are suddenly ahead after they cut open the Tyrone defence with Vinny Corey finishing the net from close range.

  14. Tyrone's first wide after 30 minutespublished at 17:03 British Summer Time 20 May 2018

    Tyrone 0-7 Monaghan 0-5

    Cian Murtagh
BBC Sport NI at Healy Park

Had to wait until the 30th minute for Tyrone's first wide of the match - and it was from their full-back!

Mickey Harte's men have been really efficient with their shooting so far and it's paying off.

  15. Tyrone two ahead againpublished at 17:02 British Summer Time 20 May 2018

    Tyrone 0-7 Monaghan 0-5

Monaghan defender Drew Wylie looks very fortunate to avoid a black card after pulling down Connor McAliskey just outside the small square. Instead, Rory Beggan gets booked after getting involved in some silly afters. Brennan points the easy free to restore a two-point lead for Tyrone.

  16. McAliskey restores Tyrone's leadpublished at 16:59 British Summer Time 20 May 2018

    Tyrone 0-6 Monaghan 0-5

McAliskey restores Tyrone's lead with a free after Monaghan's Dessie Ward is booked for a coat hanger tackle on Conor Meyler. Radio Ulster co-commentator Brendan Devenney reckons Ward is a tad fortunate to only be handed the booking.

  17. Monaghan have settled - Devenneypublished at 16:54 British Summer Time 20 May 2018

Tyrone made a whirlwind start but Monaghan did not show any signs of panic and have now settled well into the game.

  18. And they are levelpublished at 16:53 British Summer Time 20 May 2018

    Tyrone 0-5 Monaghan 0-5

Credit to Monaghan. Another McManus free levels the contest and suddenly there is a bit of speed in the Farney legs after all the early Tyrone domination. Just 20 minutes gone in this fascinating contest.

  19. Bradley off for Tyronepublished at 16:51 British Summer Time 20 May 2018

    Tyrone 0-5 Monaghan 0-4

    Cian Murtagh
BBC Sport NI at Healy Park

A real blow for Tyrone – Mark Bradley has just pulled up with a grimace and has been replaced by Ronan O’Neill. It looked like a hamstring injury. That was not in the script for Mickey Harte.

Moments later, Jack McCarron strikes over a Monaghan point. Suddenly there is only a point in it despite all Tyrone's superiority.

It’s been a real tactical battle in the opening 15 minutes. Tyrone playing with two inside forwards with Lee Brennan, Connor McAliskey and Bradley rotating between them.

At times, Monaghan are pulling everyone back inside their own half – they’re so committed to stop Tyrone from scoring that Conor McManus has just pulled off a block deep inside his own half.

Tyrone's power play is incredible. Every player looks like they can engage the opposition and get the better of them each time, which is a worry for Monaghan.
