That game was a dour and error-ridden contest for the most part but that finish was something remarkable as Eoin Donnelly's injury-time goal led to an outpouring of Erne County joy at Healy Park.

Fermanagh can now look forward to an Ulster final three weeks today as they have a chance to end that unwanted statistic of being the only county in the province never to win the Anglo-Celt Cup.

And after Rory Gallagher managed to tactically outwit Malachy O'Rourke just as he did to Kieran McGeeney, Fermanagh folk will believe that their heroes can beat Donegal or Down on 24 June.

Monaghan manager Malachy O'Rourke looks absolutely stunned after his team's last-gasp defeat by Fermanagh.

"It's devastating in a way. That's a hard word to use in real life," says the Fermanagh native.

"We didn't play well for a lot of the game. Fermanagh set up very well. They were very hungry and we took a long time to get going.

"Towards the end we went a couple of points up but we were just hit with a real sucker punch at the end.

"We have no complaints. Fermanagh deserved it. It was just a tough day.

"There are very few positives we can take from today."

Fermanagh manager Rory Gallagher says he always believed his team could shock Monaghan in the Ulster semi-final.

"We felt we had a really good chance. We did ride our luck and had to work exceptionally hard," says the former Donegal boss.

"It's all about those boys. I'm lucky enough. I've been involved in Ulster finals and it's a very privileged position to be in."

Gallagher adds that the Fermanagh management "had to put the team first" as they decided to drop Seamus Quigley for Sunday's game.

"Seamus knows why he wasn't playing today. We love Seamy. We want the very best for him and we are going to work away for the final now."

"There's no doubt Fermanagh did their homework and Monaghan looked clueless at times. It just shows you what an underdog can do with a bit of structure."

Thrilled Fermanagh boss Rory Gallagher says that there was a belief that the Monaghan defence could be shaky under the high ball.

"We felt there was a wee vulnerability under the high ball and that came true," says Gallagher, who hints at some unspecified disciplinary indiscretion which led to Seamus Quigley not playing today.

"We love Seamy. He knows why he didn't play today."

There are green hordes on the field at Healy Park as Fermanagh folk are joyously celebrating that improbable victory at Healy Park.

Fermanagh are the only Ulster county never to have won the senior provincial football title having lost five deciders. There were last in the final 2008 when they were beaten by Armagh after a replay.

They now have the decider to look forward to in two weeks.

The Monaghan captain's score gives his team the lead for just the second time in the game and that is followed just second later by a black card for Ruairi Corrigan and a free for Conor McManus.

Colin Walshe kicks Monaghan into the lead with four minutes left. Conor McManus quickly tags on another free. To make matters worse for Fermanagh, they are reduced to 14 men as the black carded Ruairi Corrigan can't be replaced as Rory Gallagher has used all his available substitutes.

Monaghan keep running down cul de sacs and traps that are being set by the Fermanagh defence.

Dessie Mone and Vinny Corey have both lost possession several times on attacking forays that earned them scores against Tyrone a fortnight ago so up stepped Drew Wylie to show them how it should be done.
