    Donegal 2-22 Down 1-12

So it'll be Fermanagh v Donegal in the Ulster SFC final in two weeks time, a rock solid defence versus a potent attack. It's all set to be a belter in what we hope is the Clones sunshine.

Donegal are thoroughly deserving of the final berth as the scoreline suggests, as for Down it's into tomorrow's qualifying draw they go.

You can watch today's game in full live on BBC Two NI at 7pm this evening. If you're a fan of free-flowing attacking football I strongly suggest you tune in to watch what Murphy et al got up to this afternoon.

Thanks for joining us today and we will see you back here in two weeks time.

There's no silverware yet and we know that we have a big task ahead of us against Fermanagh in two weeks' time. These guys are all decent footballers and we are looking for the right balance, it's a work in progress and we aren't the finished article yet. The Ulster final is a great place to be and we hope to come back here in a few weeks and lift that Anglo-Celt Cup.

    Donegal 2-22 Down 1-12

There's the whistle. Emphatic from Donegal as they march into the Ulster final where they will face Fermanagh.

That was a big win, particularly impressive given the early red card for Neil McGee and the style with which many of the Donegal points were delivered. Easily their best performance in this year's competition so far.

  5. GOALpublished at 17:40 British Summer Time 10 June 2018

    Donegal 2-22 Down 1-12

Murphy continues to run in a pace as he combines with McBrearty to set up Mark McHugh for an easy point. We're into the final minute of added time.

Lovely goal by Niall Donnelly to finish it off, the definition of a consolation but a great finish nonetheless as he rounds two Donegal defenders.

  6. Goal chances go beggingpublished at 17:36 British Summer Time 10 June 2018

    Donegal 2-21 Down 0-12

We're into five minutes of additional time as Jamie Brennan points when he probably should find the back of the net from close range. Niall Donnelly too has a chance of a goal but gets just a point.

  7. Forwards on the chargepublished at 17:32 British Summer Time 10 June 2018

    Donegal 2-20 Down 0-11

Paddy McBrearty now has six points for the day, Michael Murphy has five while Jamie Brennan has 1-2. Not a bad day's work for the Donegal full forward line.

  8. Points keep comingpublished at 17:28 British Summer Time 10 June 2018

    Donegal 2-19 Down 0-11

McBrearty points another free as does Donal O'Hare at the other end to bring Down into double figures. McMenamin should really add a goal as three Donegal subs combine but his fist is over the bar and they'll take a point.

Conor Maginn fires over the black spot just seconds later.

  9. Big names standing uppublished at 17:23 British Summer Time 10 June 2018

    Donegal 2-17 Down 0-9

The post denies Jamie Brennan another goal and there's now a stoppage due to injury.

Down's big players, Connaire Harrison and Caolan Mooney, have been brilliant today. The problem for them is that Donegal's big players, and there are a few more of them, have also been outstanding.

With about 15 minutes remaing, Down can start thinking about tomorrow's second round qualifier draw while Donegal have an Ulster final to look forward to.

  10. Harrison refusing to give uppublished at 17:18 British Summer Time 10 June 2018

    Donegal 2-17 Down 0-9

It's easy to forget but Down have had a man advantage for the majority of this game. It hasn't seemed to trouble Donegal as Paul Brennan adds another point on the turn.

Connaire Harrison is intent to keep fighting and adds one of the points of the day from the left wing.

  11. McLoone takes the applausepublished at 17:15 British Summer Time 10 June 2018

    Donegal 2-16 Down 0-8

Donal O'Hare scores for Down's first point of the half from a free. Leo McLoone leaves the field to a warm reception following an utterly dominant midfield display.

  12. Game definitely over nowpublished at 17:14 British Summer Time 10 June 2018

    Donegal 2-15 Down 0-8

    John Haughey
    BBC Sport NI at Clones

Donegal have killed this game off with that unanswered salvo of 1-3 after half-time. Declan Bonner can already start plotting for Fermanagh which will be a very different challenge.

  13. Deflated Downpublished at 17:12 British Summer Time 10 June 2018

    Donegal 2-15 Down 0-7

Ban Gallagher finds Brennan who grabs another point as Donegal start the second half as they did the first.

Harrison shoots wide and Down heads are dropping, you can understand why. Despite being a man to the good they just have not been able to cope with their opponents.

  14. GOAL!published at 17:10 British Summer Time 10 June 2018

    Donegal 2-15 Down 0-7

Donegal didn't really get out of third gear against Cavan or Derry but my word they are putting on a clinic today. McBrearty adds two points and Jamie Brennan then slots into an open net having been teed up by Ryan McHugh.

On this form, Donegal will be a match for any county.

  15. McGlynn causing problemspublished at 17:07 British Summer Time 10 June 2018

    Donegal 1-13 Down 0-7

Clones goes quiet as there's not much excitement in the opening minutes of the half. Anthony Doherty drops a 46-yard free short before Murphy adds the first point of the half following a trademark Frank McGlynn run from deep.

  16. Millar black cardedpublished at 17:02 British Summer Time 10 June 2018

    Donegal 1-12 Down 0-7

Not the start that Down wanted as Shay Millar drags down his opponent from behind and is promptly black carded. On comes Sean Dornan.

Michael Murphy uncharacteristically drags the resulting free wide.

  17. Teams back outpublished at 17:00 British Summer Time 10 June 2018

    Donegal 1-12 Down 0-7

Donegal are the first of the teams to re-emerge onto the pitch at St Tiernach's park closely followed by Down, who have it all to do as the second period gets underway. Rory Wells is on for Niall McParland.

We need to get a couple of early scores - you never know. It is going to be very hard, but we have to push up and try to put Donegal under pressure.

    Donegal 1-12 Down 0-7

    John Haughey
    BBC Sport NI at Clones

After being 1-7 to 0-0 behind after 24 minutes, Down improved in the remaining 16 minutes of play in the first half as they outscored Donegal but the Mournemen still have a mountain to climb in the second period.

A Down goal early in the second half could make matters interesting it's hard to see Donegal throwing away this one - even though Eamonn Burns' side will have the extra man on this energy-sapping afternoon.

  20. Half-timepublished at 16:42 British Summer Time 10 June 2018

    Donegal 1-12 Down 0-7

Conor Maginn adds Down's final score of the half off a lovely pass from Ryan Johnston and Ciaran Thompson adds another for Donegal just before the ref's whistle.

It's not quite the rout is looked like we were heading towards after 20 minutes but the 14 men of Donegal are very much in the driving seat at half time. Eight points to the good and one foot in the final.
