  • Glenn Irwin clinches Superbikes

  • Davey Todd wins Supersport race

  • Jeremy McWilliams, 55, Supertwin winner

  • James Hillier victory in Superstock

  • Last Superbike race cancelled

  1. Hillier aheadpublished at 16:30 British Summer Time 18 May 2019

Bit of a messy start as Conor Cummins veers across the track but everyone gets on their way.

Seeley gets past Glenn Irwin over Primrose Hill then Irwin finds a slipstream to retake the lead... I suspect this battle at the top could be tight.

Oh look at James Hillier on his Superstock bike, comes flying up past Seeley and into second! That was powerful, and then he goes one better and moves in front of Glenn Irwin.

Hillier, Irwin, Seeley at the end of the first lap.

The big bikes are off the mark!

  3. A lift in the moodpublished at 16:22 British Summer Time 18 May 2019

For a while it looked like we wouldn’t see the big bikes out, but now thankfully the conditions have eased and although there’s still a feeling of rain in the air, the mood around grid and paddock has lifted.

There’s even a dry line appearing around most of the circuit, so that could spice things in this Superbike race right up.

  4. Four lap racepublished at 16:14 British Summer Time 18 May 2019

The Superbikes of course were set for seven laps. However due to the track conditions it has now been cut to a four lap race.

No Peter Hickman or Dean Harrison for this one as the riders get off on their warm-up lap.

Irwin? Seeley? Dunlop? Who are you backing?

  6. Glenn's good to gopublished at 15:46 British Summer Time 18 May 2019

Glenn Irwin confirms that he will be racing in the Superbikes.

As will Alastair Seeley, who remember is chasing a win at the North West for an 11th consecutive year.

  7. Superbikespublished at 15:40 British Summer Time 18 May 2019

    Big bikes anyone?

When the conditions were perfect back on Thursday Glenn Irwin stormed to pole while Alastair Seeley and Dean Harrison weren't far behind him and secured spots at the front row of the grid.

Remember earlier Irwin said that he wouldn't be racing in the first Superbike race due to the adverse conditions, which were dreadful earlier. Will he have changed his mind and seek his fourth straight win in this class?

  9. A popular winnerpublished at 15:38 British Summer Time 18 May 2019

Fair play to every rider who took to the circuit there, that was tricky!

And we were treated to a great race out front, that was simply superb from Davey Todd, Derek McGee, Conor Cummins and Paul Jordan.

Say what you like about the grid, but you can only beat what’s in front of you and that was a racing master class in the conditions.

Congratulations to Davey Todd on a first North West 200 win, that was some performance and a very popular winner.

I enjoyed every second of that. I knew we would be strong in the wet conditions. Derek and Conor pushed me all the way, but the bike gave me an edge.

Davey Todd (Padgett's Racing), Winner, Supersport race

  11. Todd winspublished at 15:27 British Summer Time 18 May 2019

Davey Todd has his first victory at the North West 200!

The 23-year-old crosses the line followed by Derek McGee in second and Conor Cummins in third.

A risky moment coming through metropole when McGee goes hard on the breaks late to avoid Todd in front of him. Thankfully, no contact and Todd navigates Juniper chicane to take the win.

  12. One lap to gopublished at 15:23 British Summer Time 18 May 2019

    Here comes Conor Cummins!

Approaching University he comes hurtling down the inside and into the lead. Todd doesn't like his lead being taken from him, and is late on the brakes into the next turn as he goes back to the front of the pack.

The weather looks like it could be closing in again, by the way, but let's not worry about that just now.

Last lap flag is out as Davey Todd leads Conor Cummins with Derek McGee in third. Paul Jordan has just set the fastest lap and is back on McGee's tail.

  13. What an opportunitypublished at 15:18 British Summer Time 18 May 2019

Conor Cummins fancies a go in the slipstream and it briefly brings him right up with the front two.

Every time McGee passes Todd, he doesn't create any distance at the front allowing Todd to come right back at him.

Neither of these two guys have won a race at the North West before and could scarcely have asked for a better opportunity.

Todd slides in underneath McGee to regain the lead, nice move. Is he picking his moment here?

Same formation as the lap before with two to go. Paul Jordan is dropping away from the front trio.

  14. Todd and McGee battling it outpublished at 15:13 British Summer Time 18 May 2019

Derek McGee finally passes Davey Todd with that slipstream, but he's not necessarily flying past him so Todd will probably not be overly upset by that.

Again the lead changes hands a number of times. Cummins and Jordan are still close by but it's those two at the top who are in charge at the moment.

So it's Todd, McGee, Cummins then Jordan at the halfway stage.

  15. A front fourpublished at 15:07 British Summer Time 18 May 2019

Derek McGee, as he did in the opening lap, gets in the slipstream to come right up behind Todd but, again, can't get past the race leader.

Paul Jordan has caught up with Conor Cummins and we have a four-horse race as Todd leads the pack.

He looks comfortable for now, but equally McGee looks happy to stay hot on his heels for the meantime.

  16. Todd takes chargepublished at 15:03 British Summer Time 18 May 2019

Davey Todd starts well and is leading the first group, which consists of just five bikes now.

Derek McGee uses the slipstream to catch Todd but doesn't quite get through as they reach University.

The lead changes hands a few times while Conor Cummins sits in third, narrowing the gap on the front two before Todd takes the bull by the horns and gives himself a little bit of a lead as he crosses the line at the end of the first lap.

  17. Away they gopublished at 14:57 British Summer Time 18 May 2019

Engage gear, watch the light and they're off.

  18. Open fieldpublished at 14:52 British Summer Time 18 May 2019

The first two rows are empty as the riders complete their sighting lap.

    Anyone's race now.

The helicopter is back in the sky by the way (not the one that caused the delay earlier, the one with the cameraman on it), so more indication that the weather is improving.

We have had a clean-up after that last incident and are going to go again with the 600 race - one sighting lap and six laps. We have done what we can. There is a massive amount of people here and thanks to them. We want to put on a show because that is what they are here for.

  20. A depleted gridpublished at 14:46 British Summer Time 18 May 2019

    Andy Gray
BBC Sport NI at the NW200

    Here we go again...

Looks like Mervyn and his team are aiming for third time lucky as the two Padgett’s 600 machines are wheeled back onto the grid.

After a scoot around the paddock during the latest delay, it looks like a few of the teams are packing up and taking their awnings apart.

A quick chat with James Hillier seems to back that up, who says the bikes are still ready to go if the conditions improve but the “vibe around the paddock is pack up and go.”

Michael Dunlop and Dean Harrison didn’t make the first restart, with Lee Johnston and Gary Johnson pulling in after Alastair Seeley’s bike expired.

This could open it up for a new winner at the North West 200, but once again we’ll wait and see.
