It's been raining steadily in Cavan today while the wind is well up as we prepare for the throw-in.

    Should make things interesting.

  4. Armagh's Patton problem?published at 13:09 Greenwich Mean Time 14 November 2020

    Donegal v Armagh (13:15 GMT)

Shaun Patton's kickouts were the thorn in Tyrone's side that might just have given Donegal the edge in that back-and-forth quarter-final two weeks ago.

Armagh will know all too well how effective the keeper's deliveries were in Ballybofey, where Donegal scored 1-6 off the pack of Patton's pinpoint accuracy.

Oisin McConville thinks nullifying them is the only way Armagh can upset the odds today, read all about it here.

  6. A decade defining daypublished at 13:05 Greenwich Mean Time 14 November 2020

    Donegal v Armagh (13:15 GMT)

Ten years ago a fresh-faced Jamie Clarke put Donegal to the sword inside the opening 10 minutes.

It was a defeat that was Donegal part ways with manager John Joe Doherty and put their faith in under-20s coach Jim McGuinness.

    The rest is history.

The defeat by Armagh prompted a change that would set the course for a remarkably fruitful 10 years of Donegal football.

  7. Stage set for Ulster semi-finalpublished at 13:02 Greenwich Mean Time 14 November 2020

    Donegal v Armagh (13:15 GMT)

Hello and welcome to our live text coverage of this afternoon's Ulster Championship semi-final between Armagh and Donegal at Kingspan Breffni in Cavan.

Donegal, who effectively ended Mickey Harte's 18-year reign as Tyrone manager with victory over the Red Hands in the quarter-final, are favourites to reach a ninth provincial showpiece in 10 years.

However, they come up against an Armagh side who have progressed impressively under Kieran McGeeney in recent seasons and who are hoping to reach a first Ulster final since 2008.

Donegal boss Declan Bonner has an enviable array of attacking talent at his disposal in Jamie Brennan, Oisin Gallen, Michael Langan and the talismanic Michael Murphy.

Armagh, however, will certainly be buoyed by the absence of Paddy McGrath in the Tir Chonaill defence, while Paddy McBrearty does not start despite having recovered from injury. Eoin McHugh comes in for the Kilcar man.

Donegal:Patton, McMenamin, McGee, Ban Gallagher, R McHugh, P Brennan, Morgan, McGonigle, McFadden, Thompson, O'Donnell, Langan, E McHugh, Murphy, J Brennan.

Armagh: Hughes, Burns, Kennedy, Morgan, C O'Neill, Forker, Shields, O O'Neill, Sheridan, Grugan, Cumiskey, Campbell, Clarke, R O'Neill, Grimley.
