    What a game!

Kilkenny displayed their vast experience late in the game to come from behind to secure a dramatic victory.

Clare lost by 12 points to the Cats in last year's semi-final but their improvement was clear to see and they played their part in a wonderful hurling encounter.

That's all from us for now but we'll be back in a fortnight for the final as Kilkenny take on four-in-a-row chasing Limerick.

    Thanks for your company.

You have to favour Limerick going into the final, they are still performing really well, they are the most consistent team in the game.

That save is probably the best I have ever seen in a hurling match. That shot came through a crowd of players, Eoin Murphy would have seen that at the very last second and to switch his body position to flick that onto the crossbar, is unbelievable.

He is the best goalkeeper ever, he has done his county unbelievable service, that is why his county is in the final.

  5. Manager reactionpublished at 17:51 British Summer Time 9 July 2023

    FT: Kilkenny 1-25 Clare 1-22

Kilkenny manager Derek Lyng speaking to BBC Sport NI: I wasn't overly surprised that Clare came back strong, they have been a super team all year.

It looked like the momentum was swinging in their favour, but our lads stuck in and picked off a few scores and got our shape again.

We got our reward in the end, just about.

Limerick are a top-class team, they showed it last night, it will be a huge battle but we are up for it.

Clare manager Brian Lohan speaking to BBC Sport NI:Our players have put an awful lot into it and worked very hard to get back here from last year and they are very disappointed.

Initially we were looking at containing the threat of Kilkenny and we did that to an extent. We conceded 15 scores in the first-half which was not ideal, but we didn't concede a goal on the positive.

In the second-half we pushed up more, it was nip and tuck and unfortunately we just didn't finish it. Their accuracy helped them get over the line.

  6. 'Kilkenny will relish underdog status'published at 17:48 British Summer Time 9 July 2023

    FT: Kilkenny 1-25 Clare 1-22

    Paul Murphy
Four-time All-Ireland winner with Kilkenny on BBC Sport NI

With Kilkenny, they are playing an All-Ireland final against one of the greatest teams of this generation and they will look forward to this and relish this.

They won't be fearful of Limerick, they will have healthy respect of Limerick and know they are the underdogs going in, but they will love the challenge of potentially dethroning Limerick.

  7. 'What a great game'published at 17:44 British Summer Time 9 July 2023

    FT: Kilkenny 1-25 Clare 1-22

Kilkenny's Eoin Coady speaking to BBC Sport NI: What a great game and what a game to come out on top on and now it is all focus on two weeks time. We are where we wanted to be at the start of the season, so we are thrilled.

Derek has brought freshness, he hasn't gone too far away from Brian's principals of determination, hard work and fighting for the crest on the jersey. He brought in a lot of new faces and reenergised the older lads.

    Jamesie O'Connor

I think there can be no complaints from a Clare perspective. Kilkenny were in a good position at half-time, they had to weather a storm as Clare fought back and led, but that goal Clare gave away so cheaply, they will rue that.

Kilkenny just showed all their experience to see that out.

That was the chance, what a save. Last-gasp reflexes from Murphy, taking the sting out of it and tipping it onto the crossbar.
