Glenn Irwin, speaking on Eurosport: "I want to win this championship, I want it so much so let's get stuck in and continue the great moment. Go out and use all the bits of experience, all the clever people, don't change it too much, keep the faith and see what happens."

    Race three (20 laps)

Here's how things stand heading into the final race.

If Bridewell finishes in front of Irwin, or right behind his team-mate, then he is champion.

If Irwin is in front and there are riders between them, then it is anyone's guess.

Kyle Ryde has an outisde shot but needs the PBM Ducati pair to hit trouble in the final race.

Glenn Irwin has said it is like riding at the North West 200 and it's not hard to see why.

There are Northern Ireland and Glenn Irwin flags everywhere, and I think he is feeding off that support to reach his 'zen' place.

Here's what Glenn Irwin said after race two. Can he get the job done?

"I'm feeling great. As I've learnt a lot recently, feeling is everything," Irwin told BBC Sport.

"The bike is working very good and there are some areas we can improve.

"I felt like I was at the North West 200 there. There was a lot of happiness in my riding. It's never easy but I felt at ease with myself.

"All we can do it go out and win the next one and try to apply some pressure on Tommy. "I think it is important that I am behind him because we need to be involved to give us the best possible chance."

  6. What happened in race two?published at 15:42 British Summer Time 15 October 2023

Glenn Irwin has won Sunday's opening British Superbike race at Brands Hatch to bring the title fight with Tommy Bridewell down to the final race.

Bridewell finished second behind his PBM Ducati team-mate and OMG Yamaha's Ryan Vickers completed the podium.

England's Bridewell leads Northern Ireland's Irwin by 5.5 points going into the final round.

Irwin took the lead from Jason O'Halloran on lap one and controlled the race from the front as O'Halloran, Ryde and Bridewell scrapped behind.

The safety car came out on lap nine after Christian Iddon crashed heavily coming out of Druids, and while Irwin led the restart, O'Halloran crashed out on cold tyres.

Bridewell, knowing he could shadow Irwin home to win his first BSB title, managed to battle past Ryde and he finished second to maintain the lead of the championship going into the final race.

    Glenn Irwin wins race two

Glenn Irwin, speaking to Eurosport: "I felt really good. I could tell by Jason's [O'Halloran] body language into turn one that he was looking at controlling. I thought if that was what we are going to do then I would rather do it myself.

"I adapted the strategy. I felt really good. That was one I knew I was under pressure but I knew I had to win that race if I wanted to win this championship. It felt like the North West 200, a real happy place for me. All we can do is go out and win the next race but we know if Tommy finishes second then it isn't enough, so we have to, within reason, have some fun in this next one."

    Glenn Irwin wins race two

Tommy Bridewell, speaking to Eurosport: "Very good, I'm really happy. The bike was working so much better than yesterday. I knew what I needed to do. I know it sounds bad to say but the beauty of having the pressure of having the points advantage, it allows you to have that little comfort zone if you need it.

"I take my hat off to Glenn. He rode under immense pressure the whole race. He can see on his pit board that it's me behind him. Good job from him and a great job from Kyle. He can hold his head high."

  11. 'Gutted to be third'published at 13:24 British Summer Time 15 October 2023

    Glenn Irwin wins race two

Kyle Ryde, speaking to Eurosport: "The middle of the race I felt like I had good pace. I saved a bit of my tyre and seen Glenn was struggling in a few areas. I tried to pass him a few times but it was so risky. The brakes didn't feel as good as they did yesterday and on one lap I nearly t-boned Tommy.

"I settled for third at that point. I wasn't just going to take myself out but someone else out too. I'm a bit gutted to finsih third but we have got some good data for this afternoon and we can win the last one."
