    However Galway are in no mood to ease off now, and sub Daniel O'Flaherty points from distance and raises a clenched fist. Galway lead by one but this is anyone's game in a hectic second half.

    Down nudge their way back into a two-point lead thanks to Pat Haveron's first score from play.

    Antrim go seeking another goal before the break, but there's nobody there to meet Niall Burns ball across the square.

    And that good people is the last action of the half, with Down holding a deserving, but slim, two-point lead.

    Derry boss Mickey Harte praised 2023 All-Star Shane McGuigan after he top scored with 11 points in the Oak Leafers' comprehensive 3-17 to 0-13 win over Monaghan at Celtic Park.

    It was Derry's third straight win on their return to Division One.

    "No he wasn't half bad out there," said Harte, who is unbeaten as Derry boss.

    "Shane's an exceptional player, we know that and I didn't need tonight to tell us that, and his accuracy was critical."

    Michael Byrne picks out an unmarked Joseph Finnegan and the half-back makes no mistake to kick Antrim's first point.

    Antrim try to reply through Eoin Hynds but Ryan McEvoy's block denies the Saffron attacker a much-needed score.

    There were two halves within that first half.

    Galway were the better side in the opening quarter and kept possession really well with Tyrone living off scraps.

    Rob Finnerty was on fire early on for Galway but once Padraig Hampsey was moved onto him following his third point, he had limited influence.

    Tyrone really grew into the game and played a quick tempo, pressing game hitting four points in a row - three from play from Harte, Morgan and Darragh Canavan.

    Morgan tagged on a free from the 45m line to give Tyrone a two-point interval lead.

    After a bright start both teams have become a bit sloppy.

    A few Antrim passes are going astray while Down's finishing is letting down their fine approach play.

    Down's wide tally now stands at five.

    Antrim have been guilty of some poor finishing in the opening exchanges but there was nothing poor about Patrick McAleer's finish.

    The Ballymena All Saints man gave John O'Hare in the Down goal no chance with a crisp drive to the net to level matters after 11 minutes.
