That could be big for Donegal going forward.

Shaun Patton went down in the first half, and while he's done well to last this long, he'll play no further part.

Jim McGuinness will hope it isn't as serious as it looks.

I think the only way Derry can really get back into this game is to get a goal and do that they have to get after the kick-out. They are not getting the opportunity with the slow build-up.

Derry are still alive, as Lachlan Murray cuts the deficit to six, but they are going to need a monumental effort over the next 20 minutes to pull it back.

Derry's Emmett Bradley is in for Lachlan Murray.

It shouldn't go unnoticed that Donegal's penalty came from yet another move jump-started by the live-wire Ryan McHugh. It was his ball that set O Baoill away before Shane O'Donnell took over.

Daire O Baoill may end up getting the headlines, but McHugh's been sensational today.

  8. goal

Goal Derry 0-10 Donegal 3-8published at 19:24 British Summer Time 20 April

    Oisin Gallen (Donegal) 47 mins

On replay, the penalty looks like a harsh call on McKaigue as he initiated contact outside the penalty area.

In any event, Oisin Gallen steps up to the spot and rolls his penalty past Odhran Lynch.

However, Donegal will have to navigate the next 10 minutes a man light, as Niall O'Donnell receives a black card.

Seriously, Derry need to look at that. They need someone, if not Lynch them someone to get back there so they don't concede.

    Deja vu!

A packed pressbox held its breath here as O Baoill tried his luck again.

It looked like Lynch had done enough top get back to that one, but it's another Donegal goal and they really have a solid platform now.

  14. goal

Daire O Baoill (Donegal) 38 mins

Daire O Baoill catches Odhran Lynch off his line again!

It has been a disastrous evening for the Derry goalkeeper, as O Baoill nets a carbon copy of his first goal, dinking the ball over Lynch's head as he raced back towards his goal.

That could be a decisive score when this game is all said and done.

The teams are emerging from the dressing rooms for the second half.

Donegal will be delighted with how things have gone so far, but with just one point in it, it's anyone's guess who wins from here.

With the wind at their back, will Donegal push on? Or do Derry have something up their sleeve?

    HT: Derry 0-9 Donegal 1-7

GAA president Jarlath Burns says counties adopting uniformed club championships could result in All-Ireland Finals returning to September.

In recent years, the hurling and football deciders have been played by the end of July which hasn't met with universal approval.

Speaking to GAAGO's new discussion forum, Burns said the door isn't closed to a return to the traditional dates.

"There is a way of achieving that," said the GAA president.

I don't really think Derry respected Donegal enough going into the game. They have set the template to hurt Donegal but stopped doing it. Derry are blessed to be only one point behind.

  20. Donegal 'went for the jugular'published at 19:00 British Summer Time 20 April

    HT: Derry 0-9 Donegal 1-7

    Michael Murphy
Former Donegal captain and All-Ireland winner on BBC Sport

I wasn't expecting Donegal to drop so deep zonally and defensively. It was the challenge they set down to Derry going forward - they went for the jugular and hammered the hammer. Do they have enough to continue that in the second half?
