    Oh no!

Louis Smith, on his favoured apparatus, loses momentum and has to come off. Both feet on the floor. He looks gutted.

He gets back on to finish the routine... let's await the score.

So, with Japan finishing on 274.094, Britain need 50 on the pommel horse to win gold - it's very unlikely.

In fact, Brinn Bevab has just completed his routine on the pommel horse and it's 14.866 with two more to go.

Here comes Louis Smith. Prepare to see a flying man-bun.

Oh dear. Karen Paquin scampers over in the corner to give Canada the early lead. Plenty of points can be scored very quickly in sevens though, of course.

Are you ready for this? The first rugby sevens medal in Olympic history and Team GB are minutes away from it.

I'm told by someone in their camp that the players were utterly distraught after defeat to New Zealand in the final. There were glum faces but after so much prep to get here, it's time to move on and grab something substantial.

GB women were punished for their ill discipline against New Zealand in their semi-final earlier on, they have to keep all seven players on the pitch to stand a chance of bringing home bronze.

It's a controlled start, no score after the opening two minutes.

Japan score a 16.133, 15.466 and 15.600 on the floor. Those are three good scores and they finish the competition on 274.094 - it could be enough for gold.

Russia follow them on the floor and need an average of 15.800 to usurp the Japanese.

    GB 0-0 India

Britain's women made a great start to their Rio 2016 campaign, beating Australia - the world 's third best team - in their opener.

So demolishing 13th-ranked India should be a piece of cake, right? Not so far.

GB, who have dropped to seventh in the world recently, are yet to make a breakthough. It is goalless after the first quarter.

Victory is by no means essential. Four teams progress from the six-strong group to the quarter-finals.
