    Australia 0-0 New Zealand

One of sport's great rivalries as Australia meet New Zealand for gold. There were plenty of tears in the All Blacks line-up during the anthems. Heads gone?

    We shall see. Under way!

Team GB's sevens women have been professional to the core in recent weeks, playing warm-up matches with focus and paying attention to sports science in the finest detail.

It came down to moments of split-second thinking. An illegal tug on a shirt, a dangerous tackle, all moments which play out in an instant but have telling repercussions.

The men, fourth seeds like the women, will likely be inspired by the run the women have had when they start tomorrow. Scant consolation for the women though. Their chance gone.

Canada win the first sevens medal in history.

Briton Antony Fowler recovered well after that knockdown and survived to the end of the round. He raises an arm as if he thinks he won the round - you're fooling nobody buddy.

There were two massive left hands he walked into and he was on the mat briefly.

He trails by three going into the final round.

Tom Daley: "Going into the last round there's an intense pressure in any competition, but when it's the Olympics it multiplies by a million. It was windy and cold, we were two points ahead of the Germans, and we got them back and we won the bronze."

Dan Goodfellow: "I was nervous. But when we first started we knew there would be pressure. And we knew we’d be the last divers to go. We just kept our nerve, stayed in the moment and won."

Antony Fowler takes a rattling left hook from his Kazakh opponent and that proves the difference maker as he is edged out of the first round.

Oh and a flurry of punches and Fowler is down!

He's back up, but this could be an exit for the Briton.

Tears on both sides of the result. Is there a worse place to finish than fourth at the Olympics? So near. and yet so far.

Bolt's press conference interrupted by Norwegian chap who does a Norwegian's version of Jamaican dancehall toasting. Now the stage is mobbed by a flashdance of carnival samba ladies. This doesn't happen to other athletes.

GB women end the Olympics in fourth as Canada dominate the bronze-medal match. Crushing blow for the Brits, who were knocked by that semi-final defeat to New Zealand.

Great Britain's players might as well each have an ice cream in their hand. They're enjoying a summer stroll in Rio.

Lily Owsley dances into the India danger-zone like a hockeying Lionel Messi, laying off to Alex Danson for the simplest of tap-ins. GB's record goalscorer doesn't miss those.

It is so sad to watch for GB. This is a shadow of the team which beat Canada just yesterday.

To leave the Games after finishing fourth will take some getting over.

As a team they knew they had to increase the start value. Louis Smith had a really good clean start. And then we saw his usual style and class, he's got very smooth rhythm. And then he just loses, his weight is slightly behind him and he couldn't control it. It's so disappointing because I know how hard they train.

He will regroup and work on where it went wrong tonight. He's got time before the pommel final. He'll come out fighting.

Louis has been such a strong team member for us. He had a really tough time because he had to wait for a long time before performing. Unfortunately it didn't work for him today. Louis is a very experienced gymnast. He knows what it's all about, you can always say 'what if', but looking at the scores it was always going to be close.

China beat GB to third by 1.37 points.

Louis Smith scored 14.766 on his disrupted pommel horse routine.

Even if he had scored the 16.066 that secured him silver at London 2012, it would not have been enough for GB.
