Great Britain's Ed Ling won bronze in the men's trap shooting yesterday and still hasn't got used to being an Olympic medallist.

"It hasn't sunk in really, it's going to take a couple more," said the farmer.

"My phone hasn't stopped. it's just been intense and thanks to everyone who has supported me.

"I found the first round of qualifying the most nervous. It had been a long build up and you can't control anything until you start and I felt like a coiled spring.

"I fly back Wednesday, get in Thursday and then straight back to work."

    We have ourselves a shoot-off.

Britain's Naomi Folkhard is into a sudden-death duel with Indonesia's Ika Rochmawati.

Not literally sudden death. It is one arrow, whoever is closest to the bull, wins. Not aiming for your opponent's eye from 60 paces.

Safely through to the semis for Alan Campbell but it's also worth highlighting the fine performance so far from India's Dattu Baban Bhokanal on his Olympic debut.

He might not be able to win a medal now, having finished fourth to qualify for the C or D semi-final, but consider this: he's had to overcome a fear of water to become a rower.

Some might sniff at why rowing has inferior finals, given that no such thing exists in athletics or swimming. But would you want to deny Bhokanal a potential winning moment?

After a packed schedule on Monday, because of Sunday's postponement, today has the feeling of the morning after the night before. The kind of day when a hug from the Rio 2016 mascot Vinicius, named after a famous Brazilian poet and lyricist, wouldn't go amiss. I'll be seeing him later.

The crowds are sparse but two things remain constant: Union Jack flags and Christ the Redeemer peering through the mist.

There is plenty of British action today. Alan Campell is first up in the quarter finals of the men's singles sculls.
