    S Williams 4-6 1-2 Svitolina

Right, we are getting dangerously close to another monster shock in the tennis. Serena Williams is not only a set down, she's now a break behind in the second set to Ukraine's Elina Svitolina. Williams, a murderous look in her eye, is stomping around the baseline. This would not be the time to ask her if you can borrow a fiver.

A 10-goal game offers up some roars and those with tickets for elsewhere peer through fences to learn what's going on. Hockey is suddenly in vogue in Deodoro and from the outside looking in, it does look like a bright and vibrant theatre.

An American behind me is debating if this is tougher than ice hockey.

    Men's Pool A

That scare of Brazil taking the lead seems a long, long time ago now. Barry Middleton has swept in his second of the game to bring six up for GB.

And here's Mark Gleghorne whipping in a penalty corner to make it a magnificent seven, before Ashley Jackson converts a penalty stroke for eight.

Just to finish off the rout Sam Ward sticks in the ninth.

The Brazilians have shipped 12 goals against Belgium and seven against Spain already in the Games, if that's any barometer.

GB are up to third in Pool A, but Australia will go above them if they beat Belgium later.

Once the sun sets, the Olympic Park comes to life, fans coming out of venues, fans going to venues. Americans, Brazilians, Mexicans, young and old, all coming together to watch the world's best athletes, and many have put some thought into their outfits. When the floodlights are turned on, the atmosphere goes up a notch.

    Serena Williams a set down

Where's my upset klaxon? I'll have it to hand just in case another big name goes out out the tennis draw. Serena Williams is a set down to Ukraine's Elina Svitolina, who won the first stanza 6-4. We're on serve after two games in the second.

Konta wasn't the only British tennis victor today. Andy Murray breezed past Juan Monaco in straight sets to reach the third round.

“I played pretty well," he said. "I hit the ball well from the back of the court. I didn’t make many unforced errors and it was a good match.

“I’ve played a lot of tennis. It’s been really hard to prepare here after the French and Wimbledon. I haven’t played a match on a hard court for five months so playing two matches every day is not easy on this surface and in these conditions.”

Speaking of tennis, BBC One has just been showing a replay of Johanna Konta's three-set win over Svetlana Kuznetsova. Afterwards this is what she had to say:

"It’s the longest match I’ve had recently. I’ve been very fortunate that I’ve been part of some spectacular matches in my career and hopefully there will be more to come. But that definitely ranks up there just because it’s my first Olympics.

“It was the first chance I had to really showcase such tennis in the biggest sporting event in the world so I feel pretty lucky and privileged that I get another chance tomorrow.

"If you keep it simple, that’s when you’ll see some of the best tennis.”

Seriously, what is going on with that Brazil hockey kit? They look like they are off to a rave. Or their cycling proficiency test. One of the all-time worst Olympic kits.

It's all got a bit messy at the Hockey Centre, green cards - for sin bins - dropping like confetti.

In a continuation of the general chaos there's goal-mouth scramble and GB's Harry Martin sneaks the ball home with a backhand from a tight angle.

The replay shows he may have used the back of the stick, but it stands.
