In the centre of the track, cyclists from all nations mingle as they warm down after competing. Double gold medallist Australia's Anna Meares, who beat Victoria Pendleton to sprint gold in 2012, was fourth in qualifying with Stephanie Morton, as she starts her fourth Olympic campaign.

How's this going to work then? The men's team sprint qualifying is well under way, with that pair of Brits soon out of the gate. After that, the GB men's pursuit team, including Sir Wiggo, will aim for the final. That final, by the way, is just after 22:30 tonight. Worth staying in for, but you can watch it wherever you are.

    Rio velodrome

Will we witness history tonight with Sir Bradley Wiggins?

He will become Great Britain's most decorated Olympian if he wins an eighth medal in the men's team pursuit.

The action began with the women's team sprint, but GB did not have a team in it after Jess Varnish and Katy Marchant failed to qualify. Varnish then hit out at coach Shane Sutton which led to the sexism and bullying row.

Carl Hester, who helped Great Britain win silver in the dressage team event, told BBC Sport. "It is a very elated feeling and we fought hard for this.

"These horses have travelled halfway across the world and the fact they can perform at this level is so incredible. We're very happy with how they have gone."

So that's two silvers in the space of about 20 minutes for Great Britain. Before the stunning result for Bryony Page, it was a much less surprising second place for the dressage team. GB remain fourth in the medals table.
